David's a Democrat[edit]

It's fact guys. Just live with it. David Palmer's been known to have been a democrat since Sherry mentioned it in Day 1. So stop editing it out.

Yes, but still, people in the executive branch aren't exactly considered to be "affiliated" with a political party. That's more of a partisan politics legislative thing. It's a notable bit of trivia that he just happens to be a Democrat. Since we don't know how he actually executed his NON-crisis presidential policy either Democratically or bipartisanly, it's really strong to say that he was "affiliated" with the party. Should it be known that he was extremely partisan in implementing that policy, then it's safe to say that he was affiliated with the Democratic Party.

Whoever wrote the above comments, please at least sign them! In any case, I disagree with the second comment. Every politician who is a member of the Democratic Party (or represents the Democratic Party in an election) is pretty much by definition affiliated with them. Somebody who votes democrat in elections or just happens to be a member would not be affiliated unless he was an activist, but if you're going to represent them in a national election you'd better darned well be affiliated! The writers have stated in interviews that they did not attach party affiliations to the characters. The trivia in Day 1 that Sherry states must be an ad-libbed line, then. Why is it so important that the party affiliation be identified, especially if the creators themselves do not support the claim?

Because the party affiliations are identified. Look, I'm a Republican, voted Bush in '04 and would've in '00 had I been old enough, and I don't like the fact that the Republican presidents have been either 1) unconscious or 2) traitorous, while the most honorable and effective president has been a Democrat. But it's there, and it's a fact, and it should be included, even if the executive producers themselves called me up and said it didn't matter a damn. Kimpire 10:39, 9 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Someone needs to fix up this page. There is inconsistency. David Palmer was assassinated, but the first occurrance that describes this is in the beginning where it states that an assassination "attempt" was on his life and he was shot in the shoulder. Later, towards the end of the page, it states that he was shot in the throat. I also changed his status. His status was set to Civilian and I changed it to Deceased (Assassinated) Anonymous 15:41, 4 September 2006 (UTC)
