Sedaris has told people he’s Jewish according to his diaries[edit]

Apparently there was some erroneous information in the past about him being Jewish?

I met someone recently who believed this.

There's no sense in which he's Jewish in any substantive way, he's Greek and Scottish in ancestry, and raised Greek Orthodox, though curiously he had his DNA done and it revealed 2% Jewish ancestry?

The only complication is that in his book of diaries “Theft By Finding”, he tells people he's Jewish, but it's very clear from the wording and the context that he's only doing it to make antisemitic people uncomfortable.
