Intro guitar riff?[edit]

Can we get a citation for this comment about the guitar riff being taught by Jimmie Page and the connection between this song and "The Supermen"? I don't hear a connection between the songs, nor, for that matter, do I hear any particularly standout guitar riffs at all. P4limpsest (talk) 15:55, 5 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Let me look it up. Bowie discussed this while on a radio station tour (in California?) back in the day, and he definitely stated something along these lines (although with his sense of humor, it may have been a joke, because it was during the same time that he (jokingly) claimed that he and Johnny Cash had written 'Scary Monsters' together).

So yeah, on April 8th 1997, Bowie was at Smith's Olde Bar in Atlantat Georgia and he gave an acoustic concert with interviews (recorded on a bootleg as "Seven Months in America"). While he's introducing "The Supermen," Bowie recalls: "Jimmy said "I've got this riff ... I'm not using it, I don't quite know what to do with it, you might like it," so he gave it to me," and then he played the basic riff from The Superman. He actually told this same story a few times while touring acoustically that year, so I would believe the story, his Scary Monsters anecdote notwithstanding. Would it be appropriate to upload an acoustic sample of his story, plus the riff?

Fair use rationale for Image:Bowie deadmanwalking.JPG[edit]

Image:Bowie deadmanwalking.JPG is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion.
