brick bat[edit]

It seems that a brick bat is merely a brick. I think that articles on the topic of riots would lose nothing--and possibly gain clarity--if the modifier "bat" were removed from all instances of the phrase that are not in quotation. The term sounds anachronistic to my ear. 1canuckbuck (talk) 10:01, 19 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

No, a brickbat is a partial brick, and one with one good end. By itself, I'd say,, it implies a half-brick, but you'll see it used for everything from 3/4 closers to 1/4 bricks.
Bats, cobbles, and setts make better missiles than brick-shaped things do; the closer the object is to round, the easier it is to throw it with both accuracy and power. Partial bricks are also more likely to be construction waste, and accessible. Anmccaff (talk) 17:59, 19 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Different riot[edit]

As far as I can remember and from what I have read, the riot in the movie was NOT the Dead Rabbit riot, but the Draft Riot. Can we get clarification? I don't want to have to watch it again. Spiel (talk) 18:24, 29 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
