Untitled[edit]

Digging is a poem that although the first in Death of a Naturalist, is one of such literary and historical stature that it should stand alone as its own Wikipedia entry.

I removed some nonsense about poems having 'hidden meanings behind them'. The meanings arent hidden my friend, its all in the text. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.86.58.12 (talk) 21:30, 17 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Death of a Naturalist: second major work[edit]

Is it his second? Or his first? It'd be great if someone could verify this... Signhere (talk) 14:18, 22 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It's his first major work. He published a short book called Eleven Poems in 1965, most of which ended up in Death of a Naturalist (1966). Olegkagan (talk) 20:31, 9 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Good article overall. But should the nationality of the poem and the poet really be listed as "United Kingdom"? Though I believe Heaney wrote the bulk of the poems in this collection while living in Belfast, he has stated many times that he is Irish first, not British in any sense. And now he has been living in Dublin for many years.
