Does there exist anything remotely similar to this in the other distributions?

Bad ref[edit]

The reference to "Simplified Package Management in Ubuntu Hoary" has nothing (or very few) to do with debconf, it is only on high level frontends, and aimed to "gnome".

The ref for the manpage is no longer valid and must be replaced by another page for debconf(8).
