Notable organizations[edit]

The Long Island Board of Rabbis is listed as being headquartered in Deer Park, based on this reference. However, the cited reference lists the address of the board as 330 Central Avenue, which is the address of the now-defunct Deer Park Jewish Center. It seems unlikely that the board would maintain its headquarters in a building that no longer serves as a synagogue (and which, the last time I drove past, was vacant). No, I don't have a verifiable reference for this but if we know that the given references are obsolete, can we really call them reliable sources anymore? Thanks. What information, other than original research, can you share with us in this regard? As I expect you know, but others who read this may not, we don't effect changes based on facts and allegations not already published by reliable sources, or analysis or synthesis by editors of published material, where the analysis or synthesis advances a position not advanced by the sources. I think the above comments are both Synth and original research.
Of course, what we would need to effect a change is an RS indicating either that the Board (not the synagogue -- we don't know that if one moves, the other necessarily moves) is no longer there, or what its address is now. In which case we could change the mention to past tense, and indicate the new location.
I would also note, that the sentence at issue is one of the few in the entire article that has any references whatsoever.
In any event, to cause my colleague less upset, I've doffed my cap somewhat to his original research, and made a change, that both keeps it accurate and allows for the possibility that one day we allow original research in.--Epeefleche (talk) 20:16, 10 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
