The images for the medals on this page need to be updated The medals pictured have been changed since this post was initiated in 2011. In November 2014, the Secretary of the Army approved a modification to the Department of the Army Civilian Service Medals in order to make their nomenclature more consistent with their military equivalents. At that time the award was renamed the Superior Civilian Service Medal and the ribbon and design were changed.

Also, In November 2014, the Secretary of the Army approved a modification to the Department oft he Army Civilian Service Medals in order to make their nomenclature more consistent with their military equivalents. At that time the award was renamed the Meritorious Civilian Service Medal and the design of the medal (both obverse and reverse) were changed accordingly.
