Semi Protection[edit]

Suggesting indefinite semi protection for this article due to frequent vandalism Cpqueeley89 (talk) 12:56, 4 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The referenced deletion is not vandalism. Derek Akorah's message did not foresee his own demise. It was an announcement that he'll resume "giving messages from spirit" as soon as he has recovered sufficiently from his bout with influenza to do so. Semi protected edit request[edit]

However, Acorah did in fact (possibly accidentally, on his Twitter account) foresee his own demise in early 2020 with the words "I hope to be back within the next couple of days when I will be giving messages from spirit for the new year. Have a wonderful day everybody and much love to you all! X."[1] This is vandalism! Cpqueeley89 (talk) 13:09, 4 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

This sounds like he knew he was about to joss it: The star continued: "I hope to be back within the next couple of days when I will be giving messages from [the] spirit for the New Year. Have a wonderful day everybody and much love to you all!" 86.187.229.176 (talk) 22:02, 4 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding his stage name "Acorah"[edit]

The only source I can find on how he picked this name is from his obituary in the Guardian, which merely states he got it from a Dutch ancestor. Can we find out the original quote or perhaps some other form of clarification? I'm a bit suspicious because "Acorah" doesn't even remotely resemble a Dutch word. Of course there's always the chance he made that story up. Prinsgezinde (talk) 13:04, 7 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

He also claimed to speak with the dead, so he may not have been the most reliable source. Rustygecko (talk) 17:16, 6 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Spiritual medium?[edit]

Should it not read "claimed to be a spiritual medium"? Rustygecko (talk) 17:12, 6 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

On Wikipedia, Mediumship is defined as the practice of ‘’purportedly’’ mediating communication between spirits of the dead and living human beings. So there’s no need to add the precursor ‘claimed’ here. Obscurasky (talk) 23:44, 6 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
