August 2013[edit]

I have partialy reverted the simplifications made by Tortie tude concerning the subgeneric classification. I think it worthwhile to mention explicitly Wiktor's name here (he is probably the most important slug taxonomist of recent times), to highlight that he has changed his opinion since earlier work, and to explain his reasoning. The reason he gave for simplifying the classification was not that it was too complicated but that his earlier classification implied too many reversals and convergences (i.e. tending to imply that it was inconsistent with the phylogeny). The extra detail is certainly helpful to biologists, and I don't think it is too demanding for other users. Jmchutchinson (talk) 21:11, 9 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
