Deletion[edit]

  • For deletion. """In addition, although notability is not temporary, a burst of coverage (often around product announcements) does not automatically make a product notable.""" This item is as likely to go away in a month as anything else. 24.222.13.228 (talk) 19:34, 9 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • I oppose also because the distro project is definitively started, so it's not a simple proposal anymore.

I oppose the deletion of this article for the same reasons I already explained on fr:Discussion:Devuan :

  • I oppose deletion. The number and notability of the people involved, the considerable press coverage the project has received, the financial support it receives, and the alliances it has formed with other projects (such as eudev) cannot be waved away by mere speculations that the project might disappear someday. TTK (talk) 03:48, 23 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • I oppose deletion. Second all arguments above. The only thing that should be deleted is cancerD. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 179.181.75.209 (talk) 20:56, 26 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

What does mean "Devuan[edit]

On their web site, they says its to be read in italian but I didn't find any meaning of this word in italian. It would be great to clarify it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A02:2788:1BA:C6C:F0E8:3A02:7A46:C1F4 (talk) 13:40, 5 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I though that it meant "uan" is in italian, but "one" in italian seem to be "uno" ... maybe they are just saying "we are italian and we have actual rules how to pronounce unknown word based on letters instead of every word basically having it's own unique pronunciation as in English"? -- Hkmaly (talk) 15:28, 13 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
'Devuan' doesn't mean anything in Italian. They want you to pronounce it as if it were an Italian word. So it would sound like "dev-one" in English. The group that develops Devuan is called the Veteran Unix Admins (VUA), and it is a fork of Debian, hence De(vua)n. The root word of Unix is "unit", which is synonymous with "one" and "one whole", hence the abbreviation "Dev-1" or "Dev-one". Jserio2 (talk) 21:04, 7 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
