Deliberate redundancy[edit]

The list of DPC supporters includes:

  • (a) an internal link to the Wikipedia article about the institution -- clicking on the full name of the institution
  • (b) an internal link to the Wikipedia article about the institution -- clicking on the acronym
  • (c) an external link to the institution's web page

In my view, the redundancy of the first two links is sensible. In addition to providing clickable access to the related page, the blue color informs the reader that the acronym link can be used in future if needed. I think this presents a reasonable exception to conventional practice which tends to disfavor redundancies.

In this context, my question becomes: If this does not represent something good, why not? --Ooperhoofd (talk) 23:28, 8 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Overall Edits[edit]

Hello Wikipedians,

As a part of a university course I have created significant modifications to this article. It presented limited information on the topic, was neutrally written, but rather awkward, and had few citations. I have provided as many secondary sources as possible to cite my changes.

Background: I changed the "History" heading to background as I filled it out with information surrounding the formation of the DPC and did not provide a continued chronology of their efforts in that section as I felt that information was better suited to the follow "Mission and Activities" section I added after the "Background" heading.

Mission and Activities: I added information around their primary goals and activities with some examples of their activities over their history.

Members: I felt it necessary to include information on how membership is defined in their organization and a list of prominent members of their organization.

Awards: I removed the stand-alone "Awards" heading and body and included it in the "Missions and Activities" heading as it focused on an award that the DPC sponsors and presents, not awards that they have received.

I included new internal links to various other wiki pages throughout the article.
