Fair use rationale for Image:Dileepactor.jpg

Image:Dileepactor.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Dubious

  • Many of the 'box-office' outcome of films listed in the table are dubious, many commercial failures have been marked as 'hit' or 'avg'. New Film(2010) with Gautham Menon

I found this article on Dileep_(actor)'s fan website at www.dileepfansclub.co.cc/news/2009/dileep-in-goutam-menons-film that Gautham Menon has a movie scheduled for 2010 with Dileep as the lead actor. Not really sure of the source, but looks like a magazine scan. Should this be put up?

Dileep (actor)Dileep

  • Dileep (actor) is the only person from the disambiguation page, known mononymously with the name Dileep. So this page should be moved to Dileep and a hatnote for otheruses will be sufficient for other persons. --Arfaz (talk) 05:54, 7 March 2011 (UTC)
  • Disambig pages Dileep and Dilip list 6 Dileeps and 12 Dilips. Anthony Appleyard (talk) 09:50, 12 April 2011 (UTC)
  • Oppose Why not move redirect both Dilip and Dileep to Dilīpa, the most ancient of all Dilip's and Dileep's? Because there are no many more Dilip's and Dileep's...--Redtigerxyz Talk 05:06, 16 April 2011 (UTC)
  • Support. The only competing use seems to be Dilīpa, which receives considerably less traffic than Dileep (actor).[1][2] The actor is the primary topic for this term. Jafeluv (talk) 08:58, 16 April 2011 (UTC)
The hits are a evidence of Wikipedia:Recentism.--Redtigerxyz Talk 09:47, 16 April 2011 (UTC)
While probably true, I don't think that's really relevant here. Primary topic is decided by what readers will most likely be looking for, not by what is the original or more "ancient" meaning. And the difference is considerable here -- over 100 times more people are looking for the actor than the king, and you have to consider the fact that at least some of the people who look for the king use another search term like Dilīpa or Dilip (the latter of which is a dab page). Someone looking for the king with the search term "Dileep" will still see a hatnote pointing them to the right article. Jafeluv (talk) 15:27, 16 April 2011 (UTC)
  • Support. It seems entirely reasonable given the low level of competition that this be moved. It is clearly searched significantly more regularly that it's main competitor. Philip.t.day talk 09:50, 17 April 2011 (UTC)
  1. Oppose While the other Dilips may have last names, they are significantly better known than Dileep (actor). I think this is fine the way it is. --rgpk (comment) 21:28, 21 April 2011 (UTC)
  • Comment:The criterion to calculate one's popularity in wiki is the page view statistics, which is clearly in support of Dileep (actor). The only better known people from the list are A.R.Rahman (his birthname happens to be A.S.Dileep Kumar but nobody in this globe calls him with that name) and Dilip Kumar (he is never called mononymously as Dilip or Dileep.) All other entries, except King Dilipa are known with their fullnames, not just Dilip or Dileep. So a hatnote to disambiguation page is largely sufficient. -- Arfaz (talk) 01:52, 22 April 2011 (UTC)

Dileep and not Dilip

His name is Dileep, not Dilip. This name change is incorrect. Please move to Dileep (actor).

Comment

dileep's stature now is for being unprecedented of being arrested in criminal conspiracy(in a rape case, out of mere vengeance) and that should be the highlight point. request to be included in the introduction section itself. india being a country where women harassment issues and oppression has been dealt with at large, this actors significance will be more than being an actor and being so unique about being implicated in such a humiliating and cold blooded act(and it should remain here until proven otherwise(at least of being arrested which isunprecedented-for he will be remembered for this case not for his movies in future, apparently )). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 43.224.129.182 (talk) 22:34, 10 July 2017 (UTC)

Controversy and Arrest

Is there a need of this seperate section? I think the narration of chain events of investigation shouldn't be Wikipedia's content. RAFiFan (talk) 10:46, 14 July 2017 (UTC)

Under Wikipedia's neutral point of view (NPOV) policy, articles must present differing viewpoints on the subject matter fairly, proportionately, and without bias. Articles should include both positive and negative viewpoints from reliable sources, without giving undue weight to particular viewpoints, either negative or positive. In most cases such type of separate sections devoted to criticism & controversies. I suggest you to read similiar sections on Sunjay Dutt , Salman Khan etc.Wikieditorhja (talk) 01:28, 16 July 2017 (UTC)

Poorly written Article

This is such a poorly written article. I read this just now and noticed,

* Very poor grammar and quality of language
* No proper Filmography section
* Dubious quoting of success of the films of the actor with many duds being categorized as hits - sounds more like a fanpage when reading about his films.

I'd also suggest that the section dealing with his recent arrest and controversy be moved out of the main article into another one. Abpillai (talk) 11:26, 14 July 2017 (UTC)

If the article is too large, the article should be split which in this case not too large. The logic is that if a politician received significant criticism about their public behavior, create a section and describe the events quoted with proper reliable sources in the same article. Period active. The infobox shows his active period 1991-2017. Has he quit acting after the arrest? Has any media reported that I wonder. Then how come such a nonsensical fact comes up in wikipedia. He's still active, with a slew of films heading for release and several others under production. 49.15.213.25 (talk) 07:03, 6 August 2017 (UTC)

So you keep telling us, and providing nothing but a source that says some fans called him that, and an unhelpul google search with no context. What would you like us to do with this "information"? Do you have a reliable source that discusses it in detail, with some proper context so that consensus can determine if anything about it is significant enough for inclusion, and what should be said about it if it is?

As far as I can tell it's a fan nickname meaning something like "people's hero", but what I can't tell is how widespread the usage is, the context in which the usage arose, or any other significant details. Without sources explaining any of that it's impossible to know whether any mention would be appropriate, or what such a mention might say. -- Begoon 01:47, 2 September 2019 (UTC)

The name of the actress

As per Section 228A in The Indian Penal Code publishing the name of the victim of sexual assault is punishable by upto 2 years imprisonment. This is to protect the victim, not the accused and needs to be seen in relation to the stigma associated with rape in India. Because of this law, no media outlet (which meet the standard of wikipedia) will connect the name of the victim with the assailant. The connection made between the actor Dileep and the actress in the article is WP:OR because of this particular law in India (none of the references given in the article make the connection between the two names). If the Indian law is violated, the actress in question can potentially sue wikipeida. Hence, I have made an edit removing the name of the actress, but have retained all the references in question. --Drajay1976 (talk) 06:01, 23 January 2022 (UTC)

yes ,you should remove the name FeelsHard (talk) 06:06, 6 February 2022 (UTC)
Strongly object to this. Wikipedia is WP:NOTCENSORED and not subject to the laws of India. As noted in the article, there are sources that use her name and in fact she came out and confirmed that she is the one that was abducted. Ravensfire (talk) 03:05, 7 February 2022 (UTC)
