River name[edit]

This article talks about the River Sheppey, but the list of List of rivers of England has a River Sheppy flowing into the River Axe, Somerset does anyone know which is correct?— Rod talk 10:49, 20 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

OS uses Sheppey (1:25,000 ST 552 443, ST 524 435). There is a Sheppey Inn at Godney. SCC uses Sheppey here, [1] but it doesn't mention draining into the Axe. However, looking at the maps of the area it is very difficult to figure what goes where and in what direction, so someone could easily have screwed up. There is a Sheppy's cider, and the Isle of Sheppey is sometimes spelled that way, so i wonder if that is causing a change in popular spelling? Derek Andrews 13:20, 20 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks I've corrected the spelling on List of rivers of England & made a request for this & other rivers to be created on Wikipedia:WikiProject Somerset. — Rod talk 16:41, 20 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
River Sheppey now has an article.— Rod talk 22:06, 3 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

"Vulliany"[edit]

This may be a reference to Lewis Vulliamy (1791–1871), but I cannot verify this. NinetyCharacters (talk) 15:20, 26 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This comes from ref 3 on the list "Images of England" which doesn't give a first name but dates it to c1850.— Rod talk 21:06, 26 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
