Untitled[edit]

It is said that the band's group, 'Divididos' ('divided') comes from a phrase in spanish: 'Divididos, ¡las pelotas!' (something like 'divided, no way!'). When the leader of the argentinian band Sumo, Luca Prodán, died, Sumo separated in two different bands: 'Divididos', this one, and 'Las Pelotas' ('the balls', literally). —Preceding unsigned comment added by 200.69.42.124 (talkcontribs)

That is more a urban legend than something proven.
Divididos took most probablly their name from the album Divididos por la felicidad by Sumo. Mariano(t/c) 06:34, 8 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Divided by happiness is an incorrect back translation for Sumo's album title. Divididos por la felicidad is in fact meant to be the translation of Divided by Joy, a reference to Joy Division. See for instance this article. Rgiordano 05:07, 16 January 2007 (UTC).[reply]

Thanks for the source. Even if it is an unsigned text in a public server. Still, Joy Division seams quite far from Divididos por la felicidad. Here are some more 'respetable' sources connecting the name to the Joy Division band [1][2].--Mariano(t/c) 15:52, 16 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
You can listen to Luca himself saying the words quoted in that reference here or here. Besides, the song titled Divididos por la felicidad in Sumo's album is named Divided by Joy in Luca's posthumous album Time Fate Love [3][4]. It is also named that way in many bootleg records. I think it is quite clear that Divided by Joy is the correct translation (or better back translation, as it is probably the original name) for the album and song's title, so would you be so kind of reverting your last edit? Thank you. Rgiordano 10:29, 20 January 2007 (UTC). (By the way, joy does not mean disfrute. That would be enjoy. joy can mean a state of happiness).[reply]

Tone[edit]

"Another band emerged from the ashes of Sumo: Las Pelotas"

That has to be rewritten somehow. Literary metaphores have no place in an Encyclopedia. There are also a few more things that need to be fixed. —Preceding unsigned comment added by W2bh (talkcontribs) 18:51, 7 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Several Issues On This Article...[edit]

I've edited the article myself, corrected the tone and added "citation needed" templates, but I think that this article has still got a lot of problems:

  • It doesn't cite any references or sources
  • It's a Stub
  • It's probably orphaned
  • It needs cleanup, and organization
  • Also, it does hardly follow the Manual of Style Premises

I'm going to try to fix this, but I think maybe that someone more experienced should help. Thanks. --J.C. (talk) 02:18, 7 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've added some references related to discography. In the same sites coul be more information about "orphan references" informartion --190.179.199.144 (talk) 18:07, 2 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Cryptic lyrics[edit]

Lyrics are truly cryptic. I'm a fan of the band and they're very hard to get, as someone written before. If you need citation, this is one...and if you still need it, please hear to the band and discover it for yourself! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.232.153.211 (talk) 00:58, 28 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

We do need a citation for that. They might be criptic to you, but remember that WP serves an international audience, and there even may be some people who don't know spanish, you know. Also, if you say "the lyrics are criptic, I listened to them and they are", it is original research. --W2bh (talk) 07:34, 28 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
