Organize by bodies of water?[edit]
I started "Snorkeling locations," based on this article, and used the same format. But it soon became apparent that sorting by bodies of water made more sense. The Red Sea, for example, is accessed from more than one country. Have a look and see if it makes more sense to you. — Epastore 02:01, 26 July 2006 (UTC)
- Agree, in principle, but I do not like the split inbetween Indian ocean and Pacific, I would not want to list all of Celebes Sea, Coral Sea, East China Sea, Philippine Sea, Sea of Japan, South China Sea, Sulu Sea, Tasman Sea, and Yellow Sea as separate areas, they are at least for me hard to know where they are. I would rather have only three top areas, Atlantic, Pacific and Indian Ocean, or maybe even have indian and pacific as one. Then have e.g. Sea of Cortez parked under Pacific and Sulu Sea under pacific, but this is not very correct. So not sure what to do, I have thought about this before for this article but not done the change since I would not know where to put e.g. Bali and is Sipadan in Celebes or Sulu sea? or maybe both depending on on which side of the island you stand on? - I can see your point. I think the real issue is that there are simply a lot more diving locations than snorkeling locations, as the latter has a much more restricted range. However, concerning countries that have coasts in multiple water bodies... I chose to just list them twice (as Red Sea is listed at least twice under this article). For example, United States gets listed under Pacific and Atlantic (and Puerto Rico is listed under Caribbean). I figure one who is in the United States is going to know which body of water they are near. I suppose that may not be the case for a tourist in Bali, however... — Epastore 16:06, 29 July 2006 (UTC)

- Hm. After some thought, I was about to try rearranging snorkeling locations by continent/country like this article, but I immediately got stuck. What's the difference between Australasia, Pacific, and Asia? Some of those overlap in quite confusing ways. Now I'm starting to think it may be better to just sort strictly by country. There would be some duplication (as in either other method), but it may be the easiest format to digest. — Epastore 17:32, 16 September 2006 (UTC)
- Well I guess this article is not very consistent, it should be either continents or oceanc, so it should be asia and australia, what to do with pacific I do not know, what continent is palau in? Stefan 00:26, 17 September 2006 (UTC)

- Well, I took a stab at rearranging snorkeling locations by continent. It's a little messy, as described above, but the organization by water bodies was really confusing people. — Epastore 17:41, 6 May 2007 (UTC)
Changed target[edit]
The target of the redirect has been changed to Recreational dive sites, which is more appropriate than Recreational diving.
