Demography[edit]

The spreadsheets of stats published by statistics.gov.uk that I use to concoct demography and economy sections lists Dobcross as "Dobcross/Uppermill", so I'm wondering how best to deal with this. Is there a Dobcross political ward, or should the stats be included with a caveat that Uppermill is included in the figures? Nev1 (talk) 16:03, 22 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I think Dobcross might be in "Saddleworth North" ward. There is definately no Dobcross ward. I'd be tempted to use Dobcross/Uppermill - it's the nearest statistical unit we have to hand, and if written well (which it will be!), shouldn't cause any alarm. Thanks for spotting this page :) --Jza84 |  Talk  16:10, 22 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I was hoping you'd say that, it's easier to use the spreadsheets :-) I've had a go at adding a demography section (and I've copied it over to Uppermill as well) so see what you think. I don't think it's appropriate to mention the population in the infobox (I removed the figure of 7,454 from the Uppermill infobox) as it's potentially misleading. It might warrant mentioning in the lead, but it might require too much detail so early on in the article. Nev1 (talk) 16:54, 22 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
