Requested move[edit]

The following discussion is an archived discussion of the proposal. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the proposal was moved to Don't Ask Me (OK Go song); no consensus here, but clear examples given of other possible topics with equal or greater priority, and the best solution is given below. Please change "Don't Ask Me" to a dab page and create articles for the other worthy items, as suggested; this should satisfy all parties. ProhibitOnions (T) 19:47, 9 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The OK Go single is not a genuine candidate for primary topic. Both the PiL single (number 22 in the UK) and the TV programme (Magnus Pyke, David Bellamy, Miriam Stoppard) are more notable. This article was originally at Don't Ask Me (OK Go song), but that was converted to a redirect, which is why I can't move this page back there myself to make way for Don't Ask Me (disambiguation), which I intend to move here when the page is free. • Agree - move this and put the dab here. -- Beardo 03:53, 2 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose those other 2 don't even have articles. So their redlinks should probably be deleted from the disambiguation page. And I oppose disambiguation pages with only 1 link on them. Ewlyahoocom 04:36, 3 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
    • The fact that a fan of a relatively obscure group creates an article about one of their non-hits (albeit originally at a disambiguated page) and some misguided person subsequently decides to ambiguate it does not make it a primary topic. There may be other Don't Ask Mes of which I am not aware, but I'm confident that of those who type "Don't Ask Me" looking for one of the three I know about, 95% will be looking for the PiL hit or the well-known TV programme. The latter is certainly worthy of an article in its own right – in fact I've just created it. Not sure whether the PiL single is worth a whole article, but it's certainly more worthy of one than the OK Go single. Both Derek Griffiths and List of UK television series link to this page. The links should be disambiguated, but a disambiguation page would be less jarring than this. All the pages that link here intentionally do so via the disambiguated redirect.
