Don't Cry Out Loud[edit]

My mom was always upset by the emotional impact of this song, and always urged me not to do as the lyric suggested. You know, after the death of my beloved grandmother, l was given three old Gold Key trade paperbacks by a former neighbor, and one of them had a story that left me spellbound - about an immortal alien called Malok who lures people to his planet and forces them to act out charades for him. One page in particular facinated me, the one in which Spock, overcome with ancient Vulcan emotions, shouts :

"Fear is an emotions - and l have no emotions. I am Spock - l am Vulcan - and l shall prevail!"

Here lay the key to my salvation, l thought. I would repress my emotions... and that last sentence became my mantra for many years. It was not until after l graduate from the Laurentian High School that l realized the error of my ways, opening myself to emotions again after watching the movie H00K on T.V. one night.Glammazon (talk) 06:13, 18 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
