Untitled[edit]

Do Not merge with Don Mills (VIVA).

VIVA does not, and should not be associated with Rapid Transit. It is simply a glorified bus route. Ditto goes for Downsview.

If I recall correctly, the line that connects to Don Mills has the poorest ridership of the VIVA express bus network. There is discussion currently under way to terminate this connection.

  • Merge Don Mills (VIVA) into this article. There is no needs for two stubs about the same station. Ground Zero | t 14:50, 28 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
  • Most of the Don Mills Station (VIVA) article has been copied directly from this page. I personally would support merging them back to one article, but I suppose the person who originally did the split did it because he/she not happy with the title, if this is the case perhaps we could change the title as a compromise.—Gniw (Wing) 15:49, 28 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Article reorganization[edit]

This article has been edited to conform with a standard scheme for subsections proposed here: Talk:Toronto_subway_and_RT#Individual_Station_articles_-_a_standard_scheme_for_subsections -A.Roz (talk) 04:23, 1 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

YRT/VIVA connection formatting[edit]

Blue Jays and I are getting into an little edit war over formatting of the YRT/Viva bus connections in the infobox. Please discuss which is the better format. I feel the format matching the TTC connections is the most fitting. This discussion applies to Vaughan and Pioneer Village stations as well. Transportfan70 (talk) 03:40, 3 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems to me the only real differences were: (1) that I had put Viva Green under its own Viva dropdown even though it is the only Viva route at Don Mills. This was a mistake, and I have corrected it. However, I still did leave Viva Green separate from the rest of the YRT dropdown. I did this for consistency with articles of other terminals where Viva routes are listed separately from the other YRT routes. I do think it's a useful distinction, but I'm more than happy to change that here and on other articles if it turns out I'm in the minority in that regard. (2) The title of the dropdown I had as "York Region Transit". Putting YRT and Viva buses is redundant, unlike the TTC, as YRT only operates buses. Furthermore, this is consistent with some, probably most but not certainly not all, GTA transit articles where an agency like YRT, MiWay, HSR are only listed by their name and not the word "buses". and (3) The colour of the route boxes for YRT. The different colours convey, as far as I can tell, no useful information, and there is a YRT colour template used for YRT routes in all other articles as far as I can tell.Blue jays (talk) 04:03, 3 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
1. That may be fine, so I left it in. The icon is linked BTW.
2. Despite the usual consistency, "YRT Buses" should be used to match "TTC Buses" in the infobox for a uniform appearance within these articles. The previous format also had "YRT Buses" link to the List of York Region Transit and Viva bus routes article, not the York Region Transit article as the icon was already linked to it.
3. The YRT route box color was an unintentional glitch. They were both meant to be blue, as they are/were in the other station articles I formatted.
I'll leave things (except for the YRT link, which I'll abbreviate) alone for now until other join in. However, IF nobody else does within a few days, I'll change everything back for this and the other station article's infoboxes for reasons I stated above. I'm not sure what was wrong with the connections in this version, before Blue jays started making changes that don't seem to match the way it's done in the other 70 or so stations in the system. Any clarity on that front? —Joeyconnick (talk) 18:56, 3 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Addendum: if a route has an article page, then at the very least both the icon and the text should be linked, otherwise you're essentially hiding the fact there is an article because the only way to discover there is one is if one happens to hover over the icon. Again, I refer people to MOS:TEXTASIMAGES: we should prefer text whenever possible. —Joeyconnick (talk) 18:59, 3 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
There was nothing wrong with the previous version, I just changed it for consistency with other articles of stations in different systems that connect to YRT. Whether YRT and Viva buses are grouped together seemed inconsistent across Wikipedia. Since you all want to keep them together I'll go change it back. I'll re-add the link to Viva Green page as it has been removed.Blue jays (talk) 19:12, 3 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
