Fan hate[edit]

It's almost funny how much hate this film generates. I'm indifferent and the film doesn't seem to have pleased anyone, but fans of the series seem to be incensed by this film. I'm not sure the article adequately conveys the level of hate, the writer of the film apologizing might give you some idea. An article from the LA Times about the biggest turkeys of 2009 is another example. Even a decade later some publications will still pile-on and point out things fans still hate about it. Super Mario Bros. (film) was at least a weird enough failure to eventually gain a cult following, I doubt this film ever will. -- 109.79.82.182 (talk) 01:06, 14 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

It's understandable. If your a Dragonball fan or Dragonball Z fan, you would know that this movie was completely horrible. I also didn't like the title of the movie. Why call it "Dragonball Evolution" ? They planned to make it very different from the very beginning and this really made many fans angry. That wasn't Goku in the Dragonball Evolution, he didn't cared about girls and was not some highschool boy trying to get a date, Goku was nothing like. The ac The relationship between Goku and Chi Chi was corny and the scene in the locker room was straight out of the Spidermans movie. None of the characters resemble the characters in Dragonball.
As a Dragonball Z fan it wasn't nice to see the kamehameha being a blue smoke of light. It's also wasn't nice to see Master Roshi having hair and not really a old man. Bulma was a fighter, shes's suppose to be a genius not some fighter. Piccolo didn't look like a Namek, just a alien colored in Green.-Vamlos (talk) 13:10, 20 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
The point I was trying to make is that although this article tries to explain how badly received this film was it doesn't manage to explain it, but I was able to see from the article history and all the angry little edits that had to be reverted that fan hate for this film burns deep. Unfortunately it is difficult to find reliable sources to support claims about fan reactions. Maybe a fan of the series who also knows how to edit Wikipedia articles would know where best to look (magazines perhaps? perhaps something translated from Japanese media?) to find better sources to explain the fan hate. -- 109.78.210.212 (talk) 18:56, 23 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
The reactions from fans can be seen on youtube in 2009/2010. The vast majority of the people completely disliked the movie and that includes me. Even the voice actors of Dragonball, Dbz and Gt completely trashed the movie. There was nothing about this Dragonball Evolution that make us Dbz fans enjoy the movie. If your a Dragonball Z fan, a Dragonball fan or even Dragonball GT fan or even Dragonball Super fan there's no way you could even give this as pass. In the end a lot of people send a letter hoping that they cancel the sequel. What on earth makes them think they can continue with a sequel when everything about the movie was completely horrible. Like the fighting tournament wasn't even a proper looking dbz tournament, they showed only a few seconds of it. The movie may have ended better if they had tried to do the ending battle in the tournament stage. When Goku transformed into a Ozaaru, which where Goku transformed into a great ape, was not even a gigantic beast, he looked only bigger than your average gorilla.
Everything about the movie was simply appalling, from their physical appearance to their attitude. Goku who was played by Justin Chatwin looked ridiculous, forget about if he doesn't have black hair or dark eyes. He looked nothing like Goku, a lot more of people think he looked 100% like the captain blue from Dragonball Z ( the character had blue eyes/blonde hair character from the red ribbon army. He paralyzes enemies with it's stare but was killed by general Tao (aka Tao Pai Pai) with a tongue ). The attitude of Goku was like that of any ordinary teenager kids who fantasized girls and impress the girls, that was never Goku. All Goku ever cared about was fighting and eating. Goku was supposed to be dumb and funny, he was never shy, and is always straight forward with everyone. I honestly don't know what they were thinking when they decided to make the movie. Video links don't make good references, but if those complaints were repeated elsewhere in print we might be able to use them as references. -- 109.76.147.128 (talk) 14:25, 25 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Well obviously we can't use video links as references. But honestly I rather trust multiple video reviews of many individuals ( fan or not fan ) on Dragonball Evolution, rather what many film critics experts says from their articles. Those reviews from youtubers would likely to be much more truthful because they reflect the minds of your typical average movie lovers. Vamlos (talk) 08:35, 30 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
