Why is it that some overzealous, supercilious editors are determined to channel Wikipedia into being a repository of bus time-tables, junior sport statistics and minor demographical facts while editing out interesting historical facts? I have attempted on different occasions to include local subject matter that is constantly edited out. The following facts removed. a) That Dromiskin has solid claims to being an original foundation of St. Patrick. b) That Dromiskin has been constantly confused in history with Drumshallon. c) A brief portrayal of St. Ronan. d) Mention of the land of Conaille of which Dromiskin was part. All of these facts have been properly referenced and would be of interest to many readers. So now when you visit Dromiskin via Wikipedia you will not find out these facts. But if you want to know if Bus Eireann route 168 from Annagassan to Dundalk serves Dromiskin just check Wikipedia. (User talk:Mervs68) 22:48, 11 November 2014 (UTC)

Some of the content that has been removed/edited is due to Wikipedia policy - WP:INDISCRIMINATE. However in the “Conclusions” of this defining Wikipedia page it is noted - “So, collections of information brought together with a reasonable amount of thought, care, and distinctions would certainly not violate policy. Enthusiastic editors are encouraged to put thought and care into collecting information for meaningful articles”. It appears not. (User talk:Mervs68) 00:06, 12 November 2014 (UTC)

I would like to see that edits to this article on Dromiskin (the resting place of many of my ancestors) should improve the article, not make it more difficult to understand and follow. I spent years learning to write, edit and proof-read a variety of publications. I now use what I learned during my career to write and edit articles for Wikipedia. If I come across a piece of text that does not comply with Wikipedia editorial or style guidelines I look at content, grammar, writing style, paragraph structure, etc., to see how it can be improved. Although I'm a minimalist (if in doubt, leave it out), I don't like deleting and it's only very rarely that I delete whole paragraphs. But I've done it here, and in my last few edits I outlined the reasons. I feel I have a duty to the readers of the article, and I just could not improve it as it was. It's supposed to be an encyclopedia article, not an essay. I was hoping that you might start with an outline, break up the text into comprehensible bite-size chunks with linked sentences, structure your paragraphs around them, re-read to decide what stays and what goes, stay on topic, maintain a chronological order for the historical information, explain who the historical persons are... I won't make a habit of returning to this article to delete more stuff, and I should not like to discourage you from contributing to Wikipedia. Regarding the Dromiskin article. It is nice that you have ancestors buried there. I have ancestors buried in Portadown, Belfast, Venezuela and various locations worldwide: however I would not presume that it gives me total jurisdiction over their respective Wikipedia articles. I understand your explanations especially that we should create encyclopaedic articles. However your final editing of the article left many facts totally unreferenced and far from encyclopaedic. The article now opens with the statement –History – “The village was home to a monastery for hundreds of years, once visited by Saint Patrick”. That is quite a whimsical lead to an encyclopaedic article, combined with no reference whatsoever. I had direct mention of a foundation by St Patrick with references. Also – “Dromiskin served as the home to the Archbishops of Armagh for a time.” And “Archbishop Milo Sweetman is buried here.” Again no references. Meanwhile the extensive sport related paragraph will probably be still appearing here in fifty years’ time with no citations in place. However you glossed over this lack of referencing while removing other aspects of an historical nature – all properly referenced. So if the article is now as you deem fit –so be it. To me it’s all water under the bridge – however I think it a shame that the misunderstanding surrounding Dromiskin and Drumshallon has been edited out. A great pity that Dromiskin will again disappear behind a cloud of confusion and not be allowed its rightful appreciation as an original foundation of St Patrick.
