Politics In relation to the politics section Clontarf was described as a "strongly republican area" due to the result in 1 out of 40 General Elections. I have researched thoroughly on the Politics of Clontarf (Masters Thesis) and Clontarf was most certainly a "Republican" area, the opposite in fact. Clontarf had amongst the highest Protestant populations in Dublin (around 70%) up to the 30's and traditionally voted for mildly nationalist/unionist candidates. Clontarf had amongst the highest (per pop) signatures on the Ulster Covenant, and a good volunteering rate to HM Armed Forces so could not have been considered a Republican Area, never has been and to this day has NO Republican elected reps. I will write a detailed Politics section when i get the time.
