Dumaguete is not the largest city in Negros Oriental province in terms of land area.

"one of the most livable islands in the world"[edit]

"I'm all for emphasizing the positive but this article reads like a biased travel brochure. The air pollution in this city is so horrific that one must counsel people not to go there if you have any sort of respiratory, cardiac or neurological problems. Certainly don't bring any infants or young kids there. Calling it "one of the most livable islands in the world" might have merit if you were to never go to Dumaguete. The people there are forever walking and commuting with rags over their faces. The Mayor, Augustin Perdices ought to be ashamed of himself for allowing this to go on unabated.--Cmoher3 (talk) 17:49, 9 April 2008 (UTC)"[reply]

This statement is just flat-out wrong!!!!! The residents don't wear rags on their faces!! I've been to Dumaguete 7 times! Great town! Yeah smelly in some areas but overall it's good. Sheanobeano (talk) 04:05, 3 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I have been to Dumaguete and I would say this statement is quite inaccurate. In fact I was walking along the city streets the whole time I was there. I found no people covering their noses because of pollution. On the contrary, I found acacia trees growing even near the downtown area. It is quite pleasant to walk along the boulevard towards night time. The sea breeze makes you feel relaxed and comfortable. The city also boasts of a pleasant large mall called "Robinsons Place" that has wide hallways and a large assortment of world class merchandise. The city has been designated by the Philippine Government as one of the country's retirement havens, and is shielded from typhoons and other troubles besetting other parts of the country.

The citation for the statement in the intro that Dumaguete City is "one of the most livable islands in the world" doesn't lead to a reference, just the main page of Islands.com. Neither a site search nor a google site search produce anything on Dumaguete City. A quick google search doesn't turn up any sources for this statement. Unless a reliable source can be found I'm going to remove the statement. MrVibrating (talk) 11:14, 29 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Whoever deleted the link, it is not spam. I read some of your info - you admit you are from England or something. I live in philippines. If you do not live here or visit here, please do not be so quick to remove ANY material from the internet that helps people find something in the philips. As a long-time resident, I can tell you (and millions of others will confirm) that it is VERY difficult to find much on the internet in philips. Examples - try finding a hotel on the island of Samar, directions to it that you can understand, and where the ATM is located in Samar. Samar is a very large island, one of the largest islands in the philips. Yet, there's only 3 places you can find an ATM machine on the entire island. You won't find that info on the internet! Please do not delete a link to a website that helps foreigners visiting philips. You're not doing anyone any favors, trust me. Thank you. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Heygijoe (talkcontribs) 14:14, 22 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Air Philippines is not flying to Dumaguete, the flight connections are PAL and CP 2 times to and from Manila daily and CP mon, wed, fri early morning from Cebu. the external link is not working, and if it is occasionally there are only errors on it. The only informative source about Dumaguete might be dumagueteinfo.com —Preceding unsigned comment added by 222.127.167.200 (talk) 22:56, 17 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Clean-up needed[edit]

A lot of the assertions in this article do not have third-party citations. Furthermore, I don't think individualized descriptions of local commercial centers should be placed here pursuant to WP:NOT. If this is not remedied by those who contribuuted the aforesaid assertions, I'm going to initiate clean-up in a week's time. Aclarado (talk) 17:32, 13 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

<Cityname> <City>[edit]

There is a discussion regarding the removal of the word "city" from the article titles of Philippine cities. This may imminently affect the article name for Dumaguete. For city names which are not unique, disambiguation alternatives are also being presented. Formal request for page move may follow after a reasonable time of discussion. If you wish to participate, please post your comments here. --JinJian (talk) 04:25, 21 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Average High or Average Daily High?[edit]

Are the temperatures given in the climate chart where it says "Average High" for each month the very highest single temperature for each month, averaged out over the stated period of 1981 - 2010? Or is this the average daily high... as in all days of the month, for all occurrences of that month, 1981 - 2010, averaged together? The latter would seem much more useful information. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.213.20.170 (talk) 03:08, 12 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The "average high" refers average daily high in all days of the month, basically in a typical day, what will the daytime high temperature be (the one you often see in weather forecasts and not the very highest single temperature for each month (e.g. the record temperatures). You can post this discussion on Template:Weather box template talk page for more detail. Ssbbplayer (talk) 20:11, 12 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
