Woo!

Hi! er it's Dunbartonshire, and Dumbarton for just the town. :) dava4444 @03:55 gmt@ 12/sep/09 @Dumbarton lol —Preceding unsigned comment added by Dava4444 (talkcontribs) 02:56, 12 September 2009 (UTC)

Dog Suicides

Is this a noteworhy subject?

Our first interwiki, yay. Makes the place seem so much more cosmopolitan... or something. Alai 01:08, 15 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Overtoun house

Hey all. Would a section about the Overtoun house be appropriate in this article? It's a somewhat famous landmark and public area, there's a lot of history there, not to mention the community service that goes on there nw that the house itself is privately owned (but the lands are still public). Plus there's all those dogs that jumped off the bridge, but that's not as important as the house itself... Please let me know if there's an interest in this, i'm sure it would liven uo the articla somewhat... Fultron89 (talk) 18:39, 5 March 2008 (UTC)

New Main Photo

Who added the photo of the Erskine bridge? It is not a particularly good choice, given that you can barely make out Dumbarton or even the rock in it, and then only if you know what you are looking at. Most of the pic shows Erskine and Old Kilpatrick! Don't forget that most readers probably don't know Dumbarton, is that pic going to be much use to them? The previous main pic was absolutely fine, at least it showed something clearly identifiable as Dumbarton. I suggest it would be better if it was restored to the way it was. If you must have the Erskine Bridge pic there then put it lower down, perhaps next to the shipbuilding article. If I had time to figure out how to move it I would, but I'm not that experienced with Wikipedia. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.132.91.26 (talk) 10:44, 6 September 2008 (UTC)

Short article about a suburb or estate, which is not noteworthy on its own. Propose any worthwhile content be merged here. Rodhullandemu 00:48, 19 November 2009 (UTC)

Hi Rodhullandemu!

I'm from Townend and the as other Estates are listed I don't see the problem :S Dava4444 (talk) 14:57, 8 February 2010 (UTC)

Dunbarton or Dumbarton

Which is it? Both link to this page but there's no mention of a spelling oddity. Please advise and / or amend the lede. Thanks Spanglej (talk) 21:40, 11 June 2010 (UTC)

The town is Dumbarton but the county is Dunbartonshire. See the entry for Dunbartonshire where the spelling anomaly is referenced. So now you know the reason why Dunbarton links to this page about Dumbarton --62.249.233.80 (talk) 00:01, 1 April 2011 (UTC)

Undiscoveredscotland.co.uk and Copyvio

I've been embarking on a large scale clean up of the use of the source Undiscoveredscotland as it is both commercially based (subjects are promoted on a commercial basis) and is unreliable (there is no record of its editorial process or who its writers are.) Generally I've been replacing this source with reliable scholarly sources, except for a few cases where uncontroversial observable facts have been left unsourced. I think a paragraph plus two sentences of this article were sourced to this source solely but on checking this content can be found to have been copied nearly verbatim from the source (using Dcoetzee's Duplicate Detector) as such I've deleted it from the article and of course it can be reinserted if sourced elsewhere and reworded.
