This article states that "the expansion of the European Union (EU) allowed E.ON to establish itself in Central Europe, such as Hungary and Poland, and in accession countries Romania and Bulgaria." However, E.ON's gas subsidiary Ruhrgas had established in the Central and Eastern Europe long time before the decision on EU enlargement was made. Moreover, in most of CEE countries were no regulations prohibiting establishment of foreign energy companies. Therefore I propose to take out the reference to the EU enlargement.Beagel 17:43, 16 September 2006 (UTC)

Capitalisation

WP:MOSTM indicates normal capitalisation for trademarks. Is there anything in the background of the naming of this company that indicates otherwise for this article? ENeville 01:48, 15 October 2006 (UTC)

Can't say the reason, but internationally this company is known by the name with capital letters only.Beagel 07:08, 15 October 2006 (UTC)

Merge from VEBA proposed

The merge was proposed by User:ENeville on 2006-10-15. I support the merge (with reservations, see below; but please don't let me stop you). I noticed the information at VEBA is not complete in that it didn't mention that E.ON was a merger of VEBA and VIAG. Since there was no article on VIAG I added a redirect page (to E.ON). I would suggest adding two sections (VEBA and VIAG) to the E.ON article. Since there is another meaning of VEBA, that would become a disambiguation page that would also point to E.ON; so some information could be retained. Since VEBA, VIAG and E.ON are/were German companies with entries on German Wikipedia, they should perhaps be altered, though I don't know what should be done there (point to a disambiguation page and a redirect page or have them all point to E.ON; possibly propose a merge of the German Wikipedia articles). I also wondered if there was any policy on former companies/company names. All I could find was a general article on [[Wikipedia:Naming conventions (companies) ]] --Boson 23:20, 23 October 2006 (UTC)

I notice that Sydkraft in Sweden and Powergen in UK have also been renamed E.ON. Merging the VEBA with E.ON seems to imply that Sydnkraft and Powergen should also be merged with this article. To me it makes more sense to keep the articles separate and link to Sydnkraft, Powergen, VEBA etc. from the E.ON article.
Merge. E.On was formed out of the merger of VEBA and VIAG. Sydnkraft and Powergen were bought by E.On, and are subsidaries of it. I know Powergen still trades as such in the UK, Which (if any) of E.On, VERA and VIAG trade in Germany? L.J.Skinnersomething to say? 23:22, 16 November 2006 (UTC)
