A more balanced writing required[edit]

When writing an encyclopedic theme it would be good if a more balanced writing is done. It should not be a writing by a fan.

As to Nayanar, there are certain more things that may be discussed. One is his propensity to use feudal pejorative, lower levels words {inhi (nee), oan (avan), oal (aval) ect.}to all and sundry, including this devotees and communist party followers, and to others. It is basically a character of his family background that is linked to claims of feudal statures of his social class.

Second is the fact that both he and his party have been ardent anti-Americans. Even the small time uprising in the village areas of Punnapra and Vayalar near Alleppy, were more or less done against CP Ramaswami's (then Dewan of Travancore) assertion that he would set up an independent nation of Travancore on the lines of the American government and executive. Whether the communist leaders really understood what it meant is doubtful. Now, when mentioning the children of Nayanar, the whereabouts of his children might be illuminative. For it is heard that at least some of them are in America, quietly enjoying the frill benefits of an English speaking nation.

Third thing to mention is Nayanar's antipathy to English. English is an egalitarian language, while the language the communist party tries to promote in Kerala, that is Malayalam is quite feudal, with the words such as Nee, Avan, Aval, eda, edi, avattakal (aiyittingal) etc. quite a handy tool for people like Nayanar to subdue followers. Nayanar may be said to be instrumental in trying to remove English from the common man's children's chance to study. For, government schools in Kerala actively try to remove English from the intellect of lower financial status children. The essential fear is that English would add more intellect to the poorer classes than is safe for the party.

Fourth thing that may be mentioned as an achievement of Nayanar would be the fact that he could very successfully change all the English names of Kerala places to Malayalam. For example, Calicut was made Kozhikode in English also. Quilon became Kollam, Sultan's Battery became Suthaanbathery. This might be an achievement, yet, the question must remain as who is Nayanar to make such changes on to names that have been created by history and other equally great persons, over many centuries. For example, the name Calicut is mentioned in Roman writings. He also did try to change the names of some old buildings. For example, the building that is known as Victoria Memorial Hall in Trivandrum was on the verge of being changed to a local communist politician's name. There was no understanding that the people who built the build the building and gave it a name had a right over it, that cannot be usurped by a passing by wayfarer.

Fifth thing to mention about his tenure as Chief Minister was his propensity to periodically announce Dearness Allowance enhancement to the government employees. If one could go through the Kerala Newspapers of his time, this feature may be seen. There was even a small time joke that if he did not do likewise, his wife, a government paid teacher (I am told)would sulk.

Sixth, there is need to mention that during his tenure also, bureaucratic corruption increased exponentially. Public Servant salary and other perks including pension benefits all were quite high, with least concern to what the common man earned.

There is an RfC on the question of using "Religion: None" vs. "Religion: None (atheist)" in the infobox on this and other similar pages.

The RfC is at Template talk:Infobox person#RfC: Religion infobox entries for individuals that have no religion.

Please help us determine consensus on this issue. --Guy Macon (talk) 17:16, 23 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
