Unnecessary dab[edit]

@R'n'B: I agree that this is an unnecessary dab, but there are two separate issues here. One is that there was an AFD that decided it should be redirected to Thomas (surname), but it looks as if it never got done. The second problem is behavioral, in that one editor hijacked the page and overwrote it with the article that's there now. Besides the fact that the notability is questionable, the practice of unilaterally overwriting an existing page with no discussion should not be tolerated. I put it back to its original state while I was figuring out what to do. — Gorthian (talk) 18:05, 2 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Normally, the solution to this problem would be to split the history, restore the old version, and move the new (hijacked) version to a different title. But in this case there is pretty much zero benefit to restoring the old version, and redirecting it to Thomas (surname) seems ridiculous, since the surname is not the primary topic of the title E. Thomas. As for the behavioral problem, you can take that up with the editor, but I don't think it makes sense to remove potentially encyclopedic content merely because of the misbehavior of the editor who contributed it. ==R'n'B (call me Russ) 11:33, 3 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, Russ, thanks for the perspective. — Gorthian (talk) 18:05, 3 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
