What does the investigation of Ralph Nader have to do with Ed Cole?[edit]

Unless Ed Cole ordered the investigation of Ralph Nader or started the allegations that Nader was a homosexual, I do not see how either is relevant to an article on Ed Cole. Respectfully, SamBlob 15:49, 10 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ed Cole is relevant and this article should not be deleted[edit]

This article is tagged for possible deletion due to lack of notability of Ed Cole. It should not be deleted. I do not have time to research better references tonight, but Ed Cole is quite notable in the history of automotive engineering, and this article merits continued existence. He was the principal engineer in developing the first truly modern V-8 automobile engine priced for the popular market (the Chevrolet small-block introduced in 1955) and as such moved the horsepower race into all price ranges, changing the course of the U.S. auto industry and strongly affecting the European auto industry. His 'tri-five' (1955-7) Chevrolets (especially the Bel Air and Nomad models) are still at the top of the U.S. street rodding scene and in less-modified states are the largest marque-and-model-specific collector interest in the U.S. His later achievements as chief of the Chevrolet Division of General Motors were also significant to automotive history, as were his achievements at the head of General Motors in the late 60s and early 70s, a very difficult regulatory environment.

Connection to Kalamazoo?[edit]

Is the connection to Kalamazoo that he died in an airplane crash near there? FYI Mendon isn't even in Kalamazoo County and as far away from Kalamazoo as his hometown of Marne. Found in Ordnance Hall of Fame[edit]

I only knew his name from the Scout camp, but a quick Google search revealed that he adapted the Allison engine for the M-3 light tank used in WWII and became the chief design engineer for light tanks, culminating in sole responsibility for the design of the T-41 (M41 Walker Bulldog). I don't see any mention of that elsewhere, so not sure if it's enough to add it to the article. https://goordnance.army.mil/hof/1980/1984/cole.html
