Needs updates[edit]

This page lists him as only driving Indy Lights in 2016 in the summary box under Previous Series, when it should say 2015-16. The career summary box towards the bottom also needs an update as it shows 1 race run in 2017 with 20 points, whereas it should show 5 races and 92 points... however the page is locked so I cannot make the changes myself! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:643:8002:FBB0:81C6:4AEC:C64E:C16B (talk) 13:20, 21 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Emirati or British?[edit]

There is a question mark about Ed Jones's nationality which has lead to continuous editing of this page that needs to be addressed. As far as I can tell Ed previously competed with an Emirati flag on his car and overalls while competing in F3. Despite this, he was officially listed as British by the championship organisers [1]. Evidently he now competes as a Briton as he is referred to as having British citizenship by the Indy Lights official website [2]. Moreover, he self-identifies as British on his Twitter page [3] and pictures of him taken this year show he has a UK flag on his overalls [4]. My suggestion would be that his previous status is referred to in the bio on this page, but that his nationality should be listed according to the country he personally identifies as being his own and is officially listed as being from by the championship in which he competes. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.244.9.246 (talk) 09:32, 27 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

No discussion really[edit]

He's got British parents, so he simply can't be Emirati.

Further to this, he's now (2017) competing in IndyCar proper (if I may use the term – no disparagement of Lights intended!), but the 2017 IndyCar Series 'Teams and Drivers' table, the Dale Coyne Racing table & list, and the 2017 Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg tables, also label him with the Emirati flag. I haven't yet found a non-Wikipedia source specifically stating his "official" national status in terms of IndyCar.
OK, on further research, he was born (and of course resides) in Dubai, evidently races under a Dubai-issued Racing Licence, and is marked with an Emirates flag on the official IndyCar website, so for racing purposes he is a Dubai driver. However, this may be a distinct thing from his personal nationality (correctly) shown in this article's infobox as British. Note that the rules for the FIA Super Licence (which Jones does not have or (yet) need) may be a little different from a Racing Licence (for which we have no separate Article): The Super Licence apparently stipulates that the driver's passport nationality be displayed even when that differs from the Racing Licence issuing country, which may be his/hers country of residence. For clarity's sake UAE racing licenses are issued by the UAEATC which is a national club, not a Dubai one. Given the way that employment /residence visas work its extremely doubtful he really resides there anymore if he's racing in the States, but that's firmly in the realms of original research.Dub star (talk) 16:50, 28 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
