New Article Creation[edit]

@Dlohcierekim: I would like to discuss the templates you added when reviewing the article. I was hoping you could elaborate on your reasoning behind each of the added templates.

Notability[edit]

I created this article to fill a gap in wikipedia's knowledge base regarding the 157 community league organizations within Edmonton. Individually these organizations are not notable enough to have their own wikipedia articles, however as a collective they are a major part of Edmonton that is completely missing from wikipedia. Nearly every community in the list of neighborhoods in Edmonton has a community league and these leagues form a major part of the city both in advocating for change and in providing amenities to residents. None of this has been covered in wikipedia so far except for an exert in the article on community leagues itself... of which so much detailed information about one city does not belong on the general article. The hope with this article would be to cover the topic effectively so the details could be appropriately removed and replaced in that section.
As each community league in Edmonton is not notable in itself, but notable as a collective, it was not simple to find a way to cover the topic effectively. I figured the best way to start was with an article on the umbrella organization overseeing all 157 leagues in the city which would allow elaboration on all the leagues and their notability as a whole. Articles on similar structures in Los Angeles and in Hawaii have been considered notable, as they also are.

Sources[edit]

Yes, there are references to self-published sources in this article, which is often necessary and appropriate in certain circumstances (the city of Los Angeles for example has 5 references to documents published by the city and the Government of Los Angeles page has 8) however I ensured that sources from books, government organizations and news articles were used wherever appropriate and necessary to gain an unbiased understanding of the topic. There are 24 references for this article and I have ensured that every statement made is found in a reference listed.
This article, of course, is a start and could elaborate more, but I do believe it to be of benefit.
