2022 fire/arson[edit]

In December 2022 there appears to have been an attempt to destroy painted murals in Tajin Chico--a plastic covering was set on fire, with debris from the plastic falling on the murals. The scope of the damage isn't certain: early reports claimed the paintings were totally destroyed, but later INAH says the damage may be reversible.

I couldn't find any information on whether these murals have been photographed/digitized, although the article claims "The damaged mural had been intervened by archaeologists in 1984"
