I didn't really think of Yoda when i created the page but I guess you're right since he does have all of the classic charecteristics of the stock charecter (Just better) Martin-C 08:22, Jun 26, 2005 (UTC)

Video games?[edit]

What about characters from various beat 'em up videogames? Characters like Edge Master from Soul Calibur and the Eternal Champion from Eternal Champions should be worth mentioning. --Nick R 13:23, 26 Jun 2005 (UTC)

I have no idea who either of them are but if they fit the characteristics of Elderly martial Arts Masters then they should be listed. The Stock Character category does not exclude video games. Martin-C 05:36, August 5, 2005 (UTC)

Parody[edit]

I think the character Snotty from Revenge of the Nerds II is a parody of this stock figure. Sample quote "To truly hock a loogie, one must not retrieve the phlegm from the throat, but from the soul. "

Globalize[edit]

This seems to be written from a primarily Western perspective e.g. mentioning accents and such. As far as I've watched, the elderly martial arts master seems to be as much a trope of East Asian martial arts cinema, albeit with slightly different characteristics.
