b:talk:Electric vehicle conversion --Nukeless 07:02, 27 August 2008 (UTC)

per [1] it appears that Michael(HOLLYWOOD) raines thinks he's an amazing fella who created a great electric motorcycle. He was even kind enough to provide us with a few photos and link to his site. Unfortunently, It doesn't appear that his bike is technically a conversation, but rather a from scratch vehicle. Furthermore, IMHO (in my humble opinion) it doesn't look all that good. Here are a few examples of some nice looking conversion ([2] [3] [4] [5] [6] [7]) and from scratch ([8] [9] [10] burnout video) electric motorcycles, btw: site is open and a good source for photos, User_talk:D0li0#Images_from_AustinEV. Anyway, I'm not sure the photos of raines bike are the best choice for examples of electric motorcycle conversions, and I don't see any added value in the paragraph he wrote which has since been non-POVed, perhaps the link to his site can stay but I think the rest should be removed. --D0li0 09:33, 20 May 2007 (UTC) Eleconvert —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.148.155.26 (talk) 02:26, 9 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Too much external linking, too much POV[edit]

There is far too many links to external sites (especially those selling products related to the article), and definitely too many opinionated statements in the article. Words like 'spectacular' don't have any place in Wikipedia articles. For reference, please see WP:NPOV --Kickstart70-T-C 06:45, 29 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Potentially a good topic with a lot of potential junk"[edit]

This is a subject that may engender a lot of controversy. What's new? Moving away from oil is a good thing. How we do it is a meaningful point of discussion. I'm new to posting here and maybe I'm minsinterpreting this side discussion, but...

Image copyright problem with Image:Bullet.PNG[edit]

The image Image:Bullet.PNG is used in this article under a claim of fair use, but it does not have an adequate explanation for why it meets the requirements for such images when used here. In particular, for each page the image is used on, it must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for the use in this article.
  • That this article is linked to from the image description page.

Training Course[edit]

Hi guys, I just though, since there may be an interest for those of us here who helped develop this article, that EVCO has managed to receive funding from the Canadian Government to build an electric vehicle conversion course which will be held in Ottawa. This article may be of use to our course... as well as the "Wikipedia" software which will be used to collaboratively build a course. It may be offered in 2009 at Algonquin College. Regards. --CyclePat (talk) 15:17, 30 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Conversion of light-skinned vehicles, roadsters and minibuses[edit]

light skinned vehicles are actually also ideal for a EV-conversion. See the locost, sand rails, desert patrol vehicles and dune buggys.

Other roadsters that would be cool include designs as the Caterham

Also, many VW van's (minibuses) have been converted

Citroën C1 ev'ie conversion[edit]

The Citroën C1 ev'ie is a conversion from a Citroën C1, manufactured (?) by the Electric Car Corporation (DOI: I have no interest here, just giving y'all links). I think this should be in the article but not sure where to put it. Any help, or just go add it, that would be great. Its stats are listed at Electric car. Active wheel conversion[edit]

Perhaps the Michelin active wheel/e-traction Thewheel can be mentioned in a seperate article section. The section should discuss new technologies that make ev conversion easier. the acttive wheel is such a innovation. It has electric engine in wheel, adding 4 such wheels thus make any car (even one without engine) a ev if a mere battery is also connected and if steering is plugged into system

See http://www.treehugger.com/files/2008/11/active-wheel-affordable-electric-car.php —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.246.159.251 (talk) 07:59, 7 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Electric bicycle article promotes trademarked brand name[edit]

The electric bike section repeatedly uses E-BikeKit, which is not only a website and company, but is also a trademarked brand name for bike conversion. This section fairly selflessly promotes the company. The company appears to be established in the field and is perhaps worth mentioning, but this article section needs to be re-written. Nothing I could see in article on the SEGWAY electric vehicle ?[edit]

Didnt see mention of the SEGWAY eV in aryticle why? Also theres a "word" about a "NIKOLA" Electric Sccter car(Like a old Sterling UK 1980 C-3 eletric bike crossover alos not mentioned in article!) .Teslaedsonmoi (talk) 01:46, 30 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

This article is about conversion of gasoline using vehicles to electric vehicles. SEGWAYs are not relevant, nor, I think, are NIKOLA (though I could be wrong), because they were never gas using in the first place. 63.240.143.147 (talk) 20:37, 22 June 2011 (UTC)madmax[reply]

California Registration[edit]

The sentence about requiring a camper shell to register a pickup truck lacks any reference, and I have searched California EV sites and have not found any such claim anywhere else. IMHO the sentence should either have a reference given or should be removed.

Full Size Sedan[edit]

The Full Size Sedan section discusses racing in Autocross events, when there is already a dedicated section for Racing conversions below. It seems out of place in the sedan section. SquashEngineer (talk) 15:50, 25 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

It mentions that the suspension can be upgraded if a donor vehicle is used in autocross. Ie, a donor vehicle used in autocross usually has much stiffer springs, which can be used in the electric conversion to counter the extra weight of the batteries. No mention is made in that section of using the converted car in autocross.  Stepho  talk  19:53, 25 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
