Queen of the Whirl album?[edit]

I've just bought the album "Queen of the Whirl" by Eliza Carthy & The Restitution (2022). It isn't mentioned here and I can't see how it fits in to her work. From the liner notes it seems that the songs are ones that she has previously recorded - but possibly re-recorded for this particular record?

I don't know enough about Eliza Carthy or her music to feel confident in adding it, even to her discography. (Even the band she recorded it with is not mentioned). Is anybody else able to do so? Thanks! RichardW72 (talk) 20:25, 11 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

"Holy Heathens and the Old Green Man" is not a compilation. Ogg 10:45, 1 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The link for "The Ratcatchers" redirects back into this article, ie circular reference. Not sensible. Ogg 11:02, 1 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You're right about "Holy Heathens" of course. Don't know what I was thinking but thanks for putting it right. Anyway, while we're here, is it just me who thinks the whole entry is in need of a bold re-write? I'm thinking in terms of firming up the chronology, digging out some decent citations, losing some of the less neutral stuff that seems to be cropping up here and there and generally adding some structure. Anyone fancy giving it a shot (or collaborating)? Kevin Boyd 22:01, 1 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

There is definitely room for improvement to these three articles: Martin Carthy, Dave Swarbrick, and Eliza Carthy. I have contributed to all three, but have only limited exposure to their works. They all need some kind of "Early Days", "Main strengths", "Recent projects" kind of sweeping treatment, instead of a list of factoids. I am preparing other stuff, so I can't give it much time, but I will keeping an eye on this. Ogg 09:38, 5 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Eliza Carthy appears on 3 tracks on "Rogue's Gallery: Pirate Ballads, Sea Songs & Chanteys".

  • She is the load vocalist on "Rolling Sea" (track 17 on CD 1)
  • She is a backing singer on "The Mermaid" (by "Martin Carthy and the UK Folk Group") (track 18 on CD 1)
  • She is a backing singer on "Hog-Eye Man" (by Martin Carthy) (track 7 on CD 2)

I have therefore change "four" to "three". Ogg (talk) 11:07, 1 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
