Spooner Family[edit]

Many thanks to 80.5.199.232 for adding a lot of useful material here. I think there is an error where Abraham Spooner is quoted as a clergyman and the source of "Spoonerisms". My understanding is that Abraham Spooner was the local squire and built the current church building, whereas Spoonerisms related to William Archibald Spooner who is related but somewhat later (1844-1930). There are family trees available at [1].

Airport Expansion[edit]

Some versions of the airport's expansion plan call for the demolition of what remains of Elmdon, the church and the dwellings around it

Do you have a reference for this? I have seen the map of the 2nd runway plan which had the new runway coming jolly close to the church (200-300 yards, I think), but have not seen one requiring its demolition. If that had been proposed I would have expected, as a member of the Parochial Church Council, to have heard about it!
