Smaller Victorian Park[edit]

There is no evidence for the "smaller Victorian park & visible bandstand" claim, either in the current geography & landscape of the area or in available historical maps. This should be struck altogether as false information or alternatively - I'm not sure of protocol - noted as an urban myth.

Further info. The article's section on the smaller park was originally added by an IP only used in one other edit, an obvious piece of vandalism that was reverted. Unless corroboration of the existence is forthcoming, I propose to delete the paragraph completely.

Toll Bar[edit]

Is there any supporting evidence for the statement "The entrance to the park was a toll bar on the Hathersage Road" IS there confusion with the Hunter's bar toll? Also, ambiguous, does the text mean that the physical entrance gate is a physical toll bar, or that the entrance is sited where a toll used to be?

Monuments[edit]

Second para, second sentence starts "Both" - referring to the statue and the oblisk, but the infomation about the tree has created an awkward paragraph break. The first two paras need to be reworded to clarify

The Victoria statue and the obelisk were at the top of Fargate, not Moorhead, which is a little further to the south. See http://public-art.shu.ac.uk/sheffield/flo59.html.

Date[edit]

The 1887 date is subject to question: Sheffield council's website states the land was acquired in three stages (1885, 1887, 1927). Victoria connection is that Jubilee Committee purchased 9 acres in 1887 to add to the already existing 20 acres. This information is from an extract from the English Heritage Register at http://www.parksandgardens.ac.uk/component/option,com_parksandgardens/task,site/id,4507/tab,history/Itemid,/

Mi Amigo crash[edit]

It seems to me that the text covering this crash is overwhelming this article, and that perhaps it would be best separating it off to a separate air crash article. Nick Cooper (talk) 15:30, 2 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Swimming 'Pool'[edit]

I have seen mentions of a boating pond and swimming dam at the park on the Sheffield Forum site, an unreliable source. The claims may be correct as the Sheffield Council Picture Sheffield site, https://www.picturesheffield.com/index.php , has a photo of the 'Endcliffe Wheel Bathing Dam', picture Ref No. s10351. (Picture Sheffield is a reliable source, though it has many errors). Does anyone have any information on the swimming pool and boating lake? --81.131.132.199 (talk) 01:40, 31 March 2021 (UTC) Just found another photo, ref s10349 --81.131.132.199 (talk) 01:43, 31 March 2021 (UTC)The Picture Sheffiels site also has a photo of the Boating Lake (ref v01755) with the title 'Endcliffe Park Boating Lake with Holme (second Endcliffe) grinding wheel on the far right'. --81.131.132.199 (talk) 01:46, 31 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
