Some thoughts[edit]

Interesting topic for an article. Some thoughts for further investigation:

  • The article rather suffers from recentism. The 2007 Formula Masters series wasn't the first response to green issues. Audi of course won Le Mans in 2006 with a diesel car. There was a Reynard Motorsport project with Chrysler in the mid 90s intended for Le Mans (see here). A little searching would probably turn up other failed projects to give some historical context. I'm sure racing diesels (in touring cars) go back at least to the 90s. You could even go back to the 1960s and 70s Rover-BRM and Team Lotus experiments with gas turbines, although I suspect those were not intended specifically as a response to green issues. There may have been a connection to oil supply though, which is relevant.
  • See here for a discussion raised on the F1 talk page quite some time ago (I didn't pick the title!). Might be some relevant stuff there. 4u1e 10:17, 12 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • This article is .... yep, outdated. Needs one of them tags?? Duhhh! RacingPhreak (talk) 01:51, 30 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Nooohooo. I was beaten to the punch by vulphere - h24. RacingPhreak (talk) 15:13, 4 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • Or was I? There may have been an article on hydrogen motor sport. What happened? RacingPhreak (talk) 15:25, 4 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Been a (long) while? Hopefully I'm back for good, or at least longerRacingPhreak (talk) 15:14, 4 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Merging[edit]

Another page called Green motorsport has appeared and while the subject matter is different the title means effectively the same thing. Green motorsport I think should be either deleted of merged into this page. --Falcadore 08:08, 30 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. They are basically two articles on the same thing with different focuses. I think if we merged them, we could just have one good article on the subject. Recury 13:33, 30 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

NPOV[edit]

Personally, I don't think the "Superkarts" section is neutral. For instance, "footprint than gas guzzling so-called 'superior' categories" would be a good example and there are several points in the section which feel very informal rather than formal which I think Wikipedia should be, eg. "One V8Supercar uses approximately 500 litres (or more) of fuel for just one weekend race meeting. Now multiply that by a field of 32+ V8Supercars, and that is at least 16000litres".

Statistics[edit]

I personally think that this article doesn't have enough info in it. It tells us about the things racing championships are doing to save the planet, but it's not telling us why. It's not giving us the problem, only the solution. I think there should be more stats on how much greenhouse gas is emitted by motorsport, and things like that.
