Why Should this be deleted and he is Already so Famous... This should be kept because a lot of people who have heard about him may well want to know about his personal life and what he has done. i also think you should make a JLS Page as they are also pritty famous

You should probably address the issue on the deletion page. Cheers, This flag once was redpropagandadeeds 18:35, 17 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I just want to say the result of the deletion of this article was extremely unfair. The other two contestents Diana Vickers and JLS pages were deleted for redirect. Why should he be treated any differently he is not famous yet, but the X factor is. Pic Editor 9686.157.104.50 (talk) 14:21, 22 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You're right, he shouldn't be treated differently, but with the result of the discussion being keep, JLS' article needs to be reinstated now. They placed higher, so there's really no argument to be had there. Diana too probably, but it depends on the definition of 'placed' in a music competition, since she was fourth and didn't make the final. I left a note about reinstating JLS on the talk page of here but I don't really have the time to do it myself, since it will probably need editing once it is reinstated. Sky83 (talk) 18:17, 22 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Its already been done by User:Pyrrhus16. See JLS (Jack the Lad Swing). JS (chat) 18:40, 22 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Oh that's good, it wasn't back when I looked. Sky83 (talk) 19:19, 22 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, I take that back. An admin has decided that it shouldn't be reinstated. Since Eoghen Quigg's article was voted a keep on the grounds that he placed in a music competition, this is blatantly a decision that needs to be looked at again since the only thing that distinguishes him from JLS is that he placed lower. IMO, it's totally nonsensical to have one article and not the other. I would give my support to anyone who wants to raise the point, but I can't really do it myself as I can only get on here for short periods at the moment as I am, like most people I imagine, busy over the holiday period! Sky83 (talk) 19:27, 22 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
(ec) JLS was deleted per discussion. To overturn that you need to submit the AfD to WP:DRV. That this article survived AfD adds weight to any argument, but it still needs review. The overriding argument in favour of keeping this article was that he was "placed" in a music contest. Agreed there is debate as to what that means, but one well held opinion would be to suggest it means placed in the medals table, ie 1st, 2nd or 3rd. On that basis, Diana Vickers is not likely to be so easily overturned - the article about her went to AfD at the same time as this one and the result was fairly clear-cut. Ros0709 (talk) 19:30, 22 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Followed your advice and asked for the AfD result of JLS to be reviewed. See: Wikipedia:Deletion review/Log/2008 December 22. Pyrrhus16 (talk) 22:05, 22 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I agree in the basis that Diana Vickers article should not be reinstated until she releases a single but i think that on the basis of JLS placing HIGHER than Eoghan Quigg there article should be re-stated (its been taken away again), it does not seem fair that just because he has many fans that he should keep this article i will again add he is NOT famous. I might also add that Eoghan and Diana have been rumored to have been signed as a duet, simon stated he would like to on the xtra factor. 86.168.5.166 (talk) 22:47, 22 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Odd name[edit]

"His baby sister, who was born during the X Factor finals, was named after his dad, she is called Chrissie-Mia" - his dad is called Chrissie-Mia????!?!?! -- ChrisTheDude (talk) 11:01, 2 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I Don't Like Eoghan, but i know that his dad is called Chrissie (he was on UTV Life before the X Factor final) 81.157.119.203 (talk) 18:05, 5 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Still a lot of unsourced/POV stuff[edit]

Saying he was highly praised on X Factor. Would someone please source this or remove it? Because it makes it sound as though he was more highly praised than the other contestants, and I don't believe he was. Also, about not being signed by Simon Cowell, it was because Cowell rejected the chance to sign him, not because Quigg chose to go elsewhere, this should perhaps be added with a source as well. Sky83 (talk) 10:09, 30 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Potential protection of article?[edit]

Would anyone support this? Because frankly, the amount of people who are vandalising this article on virtually a daily basis is getting very tired very quickly. There appear to be multiple teenage girls who want to marry this boy and seem to feel that Wikipedia is an excelllent forum for telling the world of this. Clearly, it isn't, and I'm really bored of having to keep deleting this rubbish. So protection anyone? Sky83 (talk) 14:29, 14 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'm with you on this one, the vandalising is ridiculous on the article.--Theosony (talk) 14:46, 14 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I agree that this needs semi-protecting. Pyrrhus16 14:47, 14 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, I don't know how you guys feel but I would think give the girls a chance to calm down and if it happens again, one of us can take the request here to put an end to the crap on this article. Sky83 (talk) 15:50, 14 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Derry / Londonderry[edit]

(Section heading is in alphabetical order and in no way reflects any nationalist beliefs I may or may not have!)

Would it be possible to stop constantly changing Londonderry to Derry etc? Surely there's a definitive answer, like, say, quoting the cited sources? That's not entirely facetious: if Eoghan Quigg has a preference that would be an option, too, I suppose.

Cheers, This flag once was redpropagandadeeds 08:33, 17 February 2009 (UTC) (who, for the record, is neither British nor Irish)[reply]

Unless we have a very good reason for changing it, I'll put it to what the official name is. I'm sure there are some people who will keep trying to change it, but the boy is from Londonderry legally speaking. I don't personally care very much about him or what his article states, moreover since it's not a particularly important article, but I think it's best for now to keep it at the actual place name, and if the kid states a preference himself, we can change it then. But that must be a good source. Sky83 (talk) 09:58, 17 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Comment: I have looked at the edit history of the IP who changed the place name. He/she has made only one other edit so I don't think that POV is a particularly good one to go with. I'd be happy with reaching a concensus on this, but at this point, there is no reason to change it to 'Derry' since the reason behind it is probably quite agenda based. Sky83 (talk) 10:07, 17 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

No, it should be Londonderry, as there has only ever been a County Londonderry. There has never in the history of Ireland been an entity or area known as County Derry. Some people call it that yes, but there is no actual county of that name. Official editing on Wikipedia is Derry for the city, and Londonderry for the county. See WP:IMOS. Canterbury Tail talk 22:16, 19 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Why not Derry/Londonderry?[edit]

It would stop all the hissy-fits over it!

See WP:IMOS for the community consensus. On Wikipedia we use County Londonderry for the county, and Derry for the city. Canterbury Tail talk 12:57, 10 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

yes but if we had Derry/Londonderry on every page we wouldnt have to fight over it (Waitingforbrain (talk) 20:35, 22 August 2009 (UTC))[reply]

'We' also wouldn't have to fight over it if people would just accept the consensus and stop with the silly :). Sky83 (talk) 20:40, 22 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'm changing londonderry to derry becasue he said he was from derry himself and i will provide the link please watch it and correct me if you must Waitingforbrain (talk) 13:36, 31 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I've changed it back per the concensus on this talk page. In addition, youtube isn't considered a reliable source. ponyo (talk) 15:15, 31 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

yes i know you tube is not a reliable source but it is what is on you tube. the clip was from the x factor where he said he was from county derry217.39.41.253 (talk) 21:39, 4 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The external links on this article....[edit]

....are these:

Both look like fansites, but I haven't had a proper look at them. Wikipedia, as we know, does not promote fansites. If someone is inclined, could they be looked at and removed if they aren't, as I suspect, official or in any way endorsed by Quigg? Thanks. Sky83 (talk) 21:40, 27 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Comment: Just to let you know I removed the fansites and replaced them with Eoghan's Official Website. --Titanictaker (talk) 22:09, 27 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

James Bourne[edit]

Why does it state that James Bourne was from "manufactured" band Busted? They weren't manufactured. James and Matt met each other, decided to start a band, then Charlie joined them. BelleMacFarlane (talk) 11:29, 4 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know, but it didn't add anything to the article and was uncited. I've removed it. Cheers, This flag once was redpropagandadeeds 11:55, 4 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Appearance on Harry Hill[edit]

Last night 20th Feb he appeared on Harry Hill, i added this and someone removed it, seriously? Why? Does it need to be sourced, go to itv player and watch it! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 95.150.251.153 (talk) 18:10, 20 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
