Speedy Delete[edit]

  • Slow down. The page was only just created. It's being updated. The Ottawa River is world renowned for its white water rafting circuits The area is rich in canoeing and rafting history especially as it relates to the first original settlers, as referenced, and this is a special place in Canoeing/rafting history in Canada. Then it should be covered in the Ottawa River article not in a hostel article, not used as a means of justifying an ad. Michellecrisp (talk) 01:28, 5 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • The lodge offers instruction - it's not an 'ad' thank you very much - and is the only accommodation location that maintains specific instruction in Wilderness First Aid (Kayak) and Swiftwater rescue. I will be adding more about certification and training that occurs here. TravelJournalNetwork (talk) 01:33, 5 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • The name - Esprit - is historically significant, and have added references to indicate geographic significance with relation to La Pointe de Sainte Esprit, 1670, as included in the Encyclopedia of Quebec noting first recorded Jesuit - French settlements. "The Ottawa were at Chagaouamigong or La Pointe de Sainte Esprit in 1670 (Jes. Rel. 1670, 83, 1858)." Surely history recorded from 1670 is a fitting reference point. That is your opinion (and you can't decide since you created the article, we need to be objective here). that is the role of the administrator to decide ::You have contested it by placing the hang on tag. An administrator has to follow this first before the tag can be removed http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:SPEEDY#Procedure_for_administrators . Please stick to procedure. Michellecrisp (talk)
  • No worries, article has been cleaned up with references added. Will collect more information in the next days. Will add more information, no encyclopedia was built in a day. The issue of 'Questionable' according to G11 has been addressed and corrected appropriately. TravelJournalNetwork (talk) 02:54, 5 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
No worries, the more references you add, the better its notability is. Michellecrisp (talk) 03:02, 5 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have removed the Speedy Deletion tag from the article, but have added a notability tag - since the notability of the site is still a little unclear. I'm glad that references have been added, but am a little concerned that they might not be the reliable sources we usually ask for - things like news articles would be preferable to promotional items such as tourism guides and regional encyclopedias. The tone of the article is also a bit promotional (especially the access section), but overall I think the subject probably merits and article, and does not warrant speedy deletion at this time - though it might be nominated for deletion via AFD, if no further improvements are forthcoming. • There are further improvements intended, will need to gather physical documentation over the next days. TravelJournalNetwork (talk) 05:24, 5 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
That is fine. Look forward to the improvements. Michellecrisp (talk) 05:26, 5 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
