Conflict of interest[edit]

At least one major contributor to this article appears to have a close personal or professional connection to the topic, and thus to have a conflict of interest. Conflict-of-interest editors are strongly discouraged from editing the article directly, but are always welcome to propose changes on the talk page (i.e., here). You can attract the attention of other editors by putting {{request edit}} (exactly so, with the curly parentheses) at the beginning of your request, or by clicking the link on the lowest yellow notice above. Requests that are not supported by independent reliable sources are unlikely to be accepted.

Please also note that our Terms of Use state that "you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation." An editor who contributes as part of his or her paid employment is required to disclose that fact. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 10:41, 18 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Page edits/updates requested[edit]

I work for ERA, and am aware we should not edit our own page directly due to conflict of interest. However, we would like to kindly request some updates to our Wikipedia listing, as we have noted several items which are out of date. Details given below with citations

Change: The European Regions Airline Association is the principal trade association representing intra-European regional airlines. It represents 52 airlines and 139 service providers (2017).

To: The European Regions Airline Association is the principal trade association representing intra-European regional airlines and is the only European airline trade association inclusive of airlines, airports, manufacturers, suppliers and aviation services. It represents 64 airlines and over 150 service providers (2020).(source: https://www.eraa.org/membership/our-members) (source: https://aviationtribune.com/airlines/europe/air-serbia-german-airways-and-sprintair-join-era/)

Change: The association is registered as a limited company in England & Wales.

To: The association is registered as a limited company in England & Wales, with an office in Brussels, Belgium. (source: https://www.eraa.org/about/contactus)

History section is very patchy in its coverage of ERA’s work. Suggest the first two paragraphs only are retained as the History section, the others removed, with a new section added below titled Objectives (as per fellow airline association A4E’s entry: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Airlines_for_Europe)

New section: Objectives (source: https://www.eraa.org/sites/default/files/era_policys_asks_2020_final.pdf): 1. Decarbonise regional aviation in Europe 2. Strengthen European connectivity 3. Promote competition 4. Protect passenger rights (link to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flight_Compensation_Regulation) 5. Air safety

Members section – please change heading to ‘Airline members’ as we have members from across the whole of the aviation industry, not just airlines.

Membership is constantly changing, but see below listing with amendments required to bring the list up to date, plus citations. Also see https://www.eraa.org/membership/our-members:

Awards section: Again, information this section is rather patchy – awards are in fact presented every year. Suggest a general introduction, with the most recent winners noted, as follows:

Awards: The European Regions Airline Association presents annual awards at its general assembly event, including the ‘ERA Airline of the Year’ Gold, Silver and Bronze awards (since 2000/2001), the ‘ERA Airport of the Year Award’ and the ‘ERA Personal Excellence Award’.

2019 winners (source: https://www.btnews.co.uk/article/15265):

Air Nostrum (gold),

ASL Airlines Ireland (silver),

Avion Express (bronze),

Aarhus Airport – ERA Airport of the Year Award

Martin Isler from Luxair – ERA Personal Excellence Award

2018 winners: (source: https://www.traveldailynews.com/post/european-regions-airline-association-announces-its-award-winners)

Loganair (gold),

Binter (silver),

Titan Airways (bronze),

Shannon Airport – ERA Airport of the Year Award,

Jon Horne from London Southend Airport – ERA Personal Excellence Award

Governance section: there seems to be a non-English heading here: Sədri? Could we please change to correct title ‘Director General’?

Board members: Again, this is constantly changing. Refer to ERA website for current members (sourcehttps://www.eraa.org/about/era-board).

Suggest changing text of this section to: ERA is governed by an elected Board of members, representing the different types of companies in membership of the association. (source: https://www.eraa.org/about/company-profile/governance). ERA’s current President is Andrew Kelly of ASL Airlines, who was elected in 2017 (Source: https://clarechampion.ie/shannon-man-elected-president-of-airline-representative-body/).

Done I did not implement any changes to the History section, because you were not specific enough. I also decided not to add the "airline of the year" award b/c I thought it was not notable. In addition, instead of making your suggested changes to the board section, I removed the section. See diffs. P,TO 19104 (talk) (contribs) 18:34, 12 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Request edit on 23 July 2020[edit]

I work for ERA, and am aware we should not edit our own page directly due to conflict of interest. Thank you for the recent help updating the information on this page. I would just like to suggest the inclusion of some additional information as follows.

Suggest a new section to be added titled Objectives (as per fellow airline association A4E’s entry: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Airlines_for_Europe)

New section: Objectives In 2020, ERA stated its key priority work areas as follows:(source: https://www.eraa.org/sites/default/files/era_policys_asks_2020_final.pdf):

1. Decarbonise regional aviation in Europe

2. Strengthen European connectivity

3. Promote competition

4. Protect passenger rights (link to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flight_Compensation_Regulation)

Awards section: Suggest including airline award winners as a priority, as ERA is primarily an airline association, with most recent winners listed, as follows:

Awards: The European Regions Airline Association presents annual awards, including the ‘ERA Airline of the Year’ Gold, Silver and Bronze awards, the ‘ERA Airport of the Year Award’ and the ‘ERA Personal Excellence Award’.

2019 winners: (source: https://www.btnews.co.uk/article/15265):

Hello EmilyR avgeek, and thank you for your suggestions. I am declining this edit request for the following reasons:
  • Adding an objectives section is tricky. Wikipedia pages cannot be promotional, so they must not sound like mission statements for the organization they cover. Any description of an organization's objectives should be plain, concise, and specific, without relying upon vaguely positive generalities. Airlines for Europe has some of these problems; for instance, what is a "Single European Sky?" It would also help if the section had citations to independent sources instead of relying solely on what ERA has to say for itself.
  • I concur with the previous editor that it hasn't been shown that the ERA awards are notable. Additionally, if this article listed every year's worth of ERA awards, it would quickly become overrun. The page would also be unlikely to stay up-to-date. It would probably be more convenient for readers who are interested in the ERA awards to find them on ERA's website.
