Only part-accurate. The second and third novellas "further explore" (the fourth, I gather, isn't quite the same thing). The first novella, this one, doesn't "further" anything- compared to what? It's the first - but sets up the series and introduces most of the cast of characters, some of whom are indeed given more by way of biography in the 2nd (and I think the third, which I haven't yet read :) )...
