GWAS[edit]

Hello @Mmosmond: I see now that this text [1] does not mention the word "rescue". It appears I assumed that would be obvious and so omitted the word. This text is in fact specific to new occurrences of herbicide resistance due to rescue – taken from pp. 626–627 of the source. How can we make that understandable? Hi @Invasive Spices:, Yeah the paragraph (both the one I removed here and the one in the source) is about why GWAS might not find positively-selected loci, especially in self-fertilizing plants. This isn't specific to evolutionary rescue, or herbicide resistance. So I'd rather see this added (if it isn't already there) to a page on GWAS (or herbicide resistance). That said, the empirical section of the rescue page could really use some elaboration, e.g., what is the genetic basis (how many loci, distribution of effect sizes) of evolutionary rescue? Perhaps this comment on the statistical limits of GWAS would fit nicely in that larger discussion?

I had not understood that. I had assumed that Kreiner mentioning it like that meant this was a more severe problem in GWAS ⇔ herbicide resistance ⇔ rescue specifically. I did not know otherwise from my own limited experience. I will consider putting that text into GWAS or something else appropriate. Thank you. Invasive Spices (talk) 8 March 2022 (UTC)
