Untitled[edit]

I love how one of this article's references contradicts the second sentence in the article. More to the point, "widely considered an acronym" is not a strong enough statement. I don't know which phrase is the "offical" one, or if there is even an "offical" phrase, but it would be good if someone could produce definitive proof one way or the other. I agree with Stilgar135, the second sentence is probably inaccurate. Snopes.com says that the name was originally "For Us By Us", but not to be racist, they just didn't know that people other than urban youth would even want to wear the clothes. But they have since realized it has a "much broader customer pool". http://www.snopes.com/business/names/fubu.asp And this article with Daymond John seems to back up it being "For Us By Us". http://www.fourhourworkweek.com/blog/2011/04/07/fubu-daymond-john/ So its probably the other way around. Someone should change it.98.223.195.35 (talk) 13:54, 18 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

A few references would give this page a little bit of credibility.

More recently, Damon John has stated that FUBU is an acronym originally for 'Five Urban Brothers United', which refers to the original founders of the company. Over time as some of the original partners have been bought out, FUBU morhped into 'For Us By Us'. The statement that 'For Us By Us' is the original acronym seems to be incorrect. 153.48.247.250 (talk) 20:11, 23 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I agree[edit]

"For Us By Us" - that really needs a citation, doesn't it?--h i s s p a c e r e s e a r c h 23:33, 5 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Snopes has verified this. [1] —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.128.155.63 (talk) 18:51, 20 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Not even a MENTION that it's a play on BUFU?!

To just give the party line about "For Us By Us" is like saying that FCUK stands for "French Connection UK". The were both coined with a nudge and a wink!

Fair use rationale for Image:Fubu.jpg[edit]

Image:Fubu.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

founder[edit]

The article states The company was founded in 1992 by Marcus Garvey, but the Marcus Garvey pages says he died in 1940. According to the fubu.com about us page, the company was started by Daymond John. I changed the article and updated the date on the cite, but I'm not sure if I did it right. The website is flash, so you can't link right to the about us page.Ozy42 (talk) 21:39, 12 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

External links modified[edit]

Hello fellow Wikipedians,

I have just added archive links to one external link on FUBU. Please take a moment to review my edit.
