Dubious[edit]

Wolfram's assumption "that the Saracens were not wicked or even responsible for their lack of belief in Christ" is here made out to be exceptional, without much reasoning. I think this is dubious. It happens to be pretty much the standard assumption of present Catholics, and the people in the Middle Ages were Catholics. Of course, that's no 100% proof; in these matters there might have been development of doctrine, but still the plausible conjecture is rather the other way round. Of course also, the people in the Middle Ages did not think at all about the Saracens too much; they had other things to do and even other things to think; when they did encounter them, it was at the battlefield, but those who then actually fought had a lot of experience in fighting others (even Christians) without necessarily thinking them wicked.--138.245.1.1 (talk) 15:40, 28 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
