Council of Tours[edit]

There is no basis in fact for claim that the Council of Tours (1163) forbade surgery. See G. Matheson Cullen, “The Divorce of Surgery from Medicine,” British Medical Journal 2, no. 3376 (September 11, 1925): 494.
