Mayor's name

A link to James Knowles III http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Knowles_III — Preceding unsigned comment added by 208.85.220.77 (talk) 04:56, 15 August 2014 (UTC)

There's a request to delete the article, so let us see where that goes before wikifying it here. • SbmeirowTalk • 18:52, 15 August 2014 (UTC)
And as someone who lives in the area who can't find a single independent reliably sourced article about him,, I think there's a really good chance it will be deleted. John Carter (talk) 19:00, 15 August 2014 (UTC)

Officer's name

I can't edit this page, but it currently says "an unnamed Ferguson police officer." That is no longer true; the officer's name is Darren Wilson according to the Shooting_of_Michael_Brown page, which currently references these articles:

Dkurth (talk) 18:28, 15 August 2014 (UTC)

Done, but I'm not entirely sure his name is important here, so it might not last. Supernerd11 Firemind ^_^ Pokedex 19:36, 15 August 2014 (UTC)

Semi-protected edit request on 20 August 2014

In the 2014 Shooting Incident section, the date that the shooting occurred is stated as being "Friday, August 9, 2014." August 9th was actually a Saturday, so this needs to be corrected. 184.56.98.199 (talk) 00:51, 20 August 2014 (UTC)

I could not find in reference "22" where is stated that Mike brown was not standing, walking, or running when the fatal bullet entered the top of his head. Please fix to best reflect what the article this comment comes actually says. 144.183.224.2 (talk) 14:55, 20 August 2014 (UTC)

Semi-protected edit request on 20 August 2014

Sorry, as stated in the earlier edit I would like "suggesting that the 6'4" Brown was not standing, running, or walking when the shot was fired" to be replace with "and that he did not appear to have been shot from very close range, because no powder burns were found on his body." this better reflects what Dr. Baden said. I cannot find anywhere in the article from the New York Times that is cited as "22" where it says that Brown was not standing, running, or walking when the shot was fired. 144.183.224.2 (talk) 15:12, 20 August 2014 (UTC)

Misleading information

"Also on Monday, Brown's family and Dr. Michael Baden, a former New York City medical examiner who examined Brown's body on Sunday, released findings which showed Brown had been shot at least six times to the front of his body, that the fatal shot was fired into the top of his head and exited from the front, and that he did not appear to have been shot from very close range because no powder burns were found on his body."

From the article it is sourced from, this last line is missing:

"But that determination could change if burns are found on his clothing, which was not available for examination."

Its omission can be misleading. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.151.59.125 (talk) 13:45, 22 August 2014 (UTC)

Censorship!

"On August 10, after a day of vigils, local police stations assembled approximately 150 officers in riot gear." IS NOT TRUE. Should be changed to "On August 10, after a night of looting and rioting, local police stations assembled approximately 150 officers in riot gear."

Rioters hit over 20 businesses with fire and bullet holes.

EVIDENCE of Stores hit is here: http://fox2now.com/2014/08/10/report-michael-brown-protesters-damage-police-vehicles-on-west-florissant/ — Preceding unsigned comment added by Voltius (talkcontribs) 23:32, 14 August 2014 (UTC)

The Cause of Shooting

The cause of the shooting per local authorities was that Michael Brown assaulted the officer when he pulled close to him, causing the officer's facial bone fracture. The officer was treated at the hospital for swollen face after the incident on Aug. 9. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 161.149.102.169 (talk) 04:48, 27 August 2014 (UTC)

Your information is incorrect. The facial fracture claim was admitted to be false the following day, and this was reported in multiple reliable sources. There is more detail on this in Shooting of Michael Brown. ‑‑Mandruss  03:00, 13 November 2014 (UTC)

Links more specific in US

What is test formulation in the specific case of this terms in US :

  1. mayor or Mayor ?
  2. city council or city council ?

Thanks for your opinion. Trackteur (talk) 14:18, 29 November 2014 (UTC)

The article you linked to, Mayoralty in the United States, describes two different forms of mayorality in the U.S. I can find nothing in the Ferguson article or on the City's official website to indicate which form Ferguson uses, if either. They might use something different from either form. I would not object to a link to the Mayoralty in the United States article, but not to a section within it, unless you can show that Ferguson uses that form. Please don't interpret this as a consensus for that change, as I am only one voice.
Correct capitalization is important. You would capitalize "mayor" only when it precedes the mayor's name (or if it is the first word of a sentence). We write "James Knowles III was elected mayor in 2011, and Mayor Knowles was in office at the time of the shooting of Michael Brown." Many Wikipedia articles, including this one, capitalize titles incorrectly.
I would have no problem with using City_council#United_States_and_Canada as a target for "city council" in this article. Again, that is not consensus for any change. Please do not make further changes to these items until consensus has been reached, per WP:BRD. ‑‑Mandruss  14:37, 29 November 2014 (UTC)
And council-manager, is described (in my formulation) in this specific link, what do you think ? Trackteur (talk) 15:08, 29 November 2014 (UTC)
I don't understand your proposition for City_council#United_States_and_Canada, because in US: Council city is very clear and specific for US. Trackteur (talk) 15:17, 29 November 2014 (UTC)
Do you mean Local_government_in_the_United_States#City_councils? That is not what you linked to. ‑‑Mandruss  15:20, 29 November 2014 (UTC)
Yes, your precision is better, I have utilized only the redirection. Go. Trackteur (talk) 15:31, 29 November 2014 (UTC)
I don't know what you mean by "Go". ‑‑Mandruss  16:24, 29 November 2014 (UTC)

2000 census info should be removed

2000 census info should be removed. There's 2010 info. The article is about the town not about the census of the town. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mike Brown 2 (talkcontribs) 23:35, 28 November 2014 (UTC)

Plessy v. Ferguson

Plessy V. Ferguson has nothing to do with Ferguson, Missouri. This will be the second time I have removed this. Please stop trying to add it unless you can show a connection to Ferguson, Missouri other than the name "Ferguson". Thank you. ‑‑Mandruss  00:40, 8 December 2014 (UTC)

@Curryloverno.1: ‑‑Mandruss  00:51, 8 December 2014 (UTC)

Look up John Howard Ferguson for the "Ferguson" in this case. He was from Louisiana. And I concur this doesn't have anything to do with Ferguson, Missouri. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.63.16.47 (talk) 20:55, 8 December 2014 (UTC)

should I make this an edit request?

Maury Travis, a murderer who was caught by investigation of internet usage, was also from Ferguson, Missouri (I knew of that before last August's shooting).

What makes you think he was from Ferguson? The Dissident Aggressor 07:46, 1 December 2014 (UTC)

I have seen a Forensic Files episode ("X marks the spot") about him, and it's also here on Wikipedia that he's from Ferguson. Notice I supplied the link above; I had nothing to do with the information on Wikipedia about his being from Ferguson. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.63.16.20 (talk) 19:33, 3 December 2014 (UTC)

I don't see the link you're referring to. Either way, we'll need a source we can cite. Glad to help if you can post a link here. The Dissident Aggressor 20:08, 3 December 2014 (UTC)

The link within Wikipedia is provided for "Maury Travis itself. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.63.16.47 (talk) 20:56, 8 December 2014 (UTC)

Right, and it wasn't sourced there either - in fact it was tagged {{cn}}. Given the confusion this is causing, I've removed it. Feel free to restore it with a reliable source. The Dissident Aggressor 23:34, 8 December 2014 (UTC)

Please reconsider. The murderpedia site has this:

"The FBI went back to Microsoft Network later the same day to identify the customer. It was Maury Troy Travis of Ferguson." — Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.63.16.20 (talk) 15:57, 12 December 2014 (UTC)
