Atlanta Falcons rushing the ring was shown in taped recordings for international screenings of Nitro[edit]

The several members of the Atlanta Falcons rushing the ring at the end was truncated on live US TV, but was shown in taped recordings for international screenings of Nitro (in the UK on its version of TNT - now called TCM).

Ric Flair attempted to "salvage the wreck" on the next Nitro or Thunder[edit]

At the start of the episode, Ric Flair appeared in the ring with a microphone, berating Nash and Hogan for "cheating the fans" - it was clearly to no avail though.

Objectivity?[edit]

Who says that Hogan/Nash "would have been one of the greatest matches of all time?" That's purely opinion, and, personally, a match with two guys that can't WALK without getting hurt doesn't sound like one of the "greatest of all time." VelvetKevorkian 04:00, 9 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed, "greatest" should be replaced with "biggest", and even then I'm not so sure it would be true. All the paragraphs that were recently added are somewhat poor. I reworded some of them. Mr. Papaya 20:17, 12 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Explanation[edit]

There should be more explanation. Why did Nash go down? Was he just giving up? Tim Long 02:36, 15 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Jesus Christ people its a goddam story line...hogan and nash planned that for a long time before the match...and nash laid down because his leader (hogan)told him to... it was a plan!! a plan! you people are writing things like nash really sold out or something...relax its a STORYLINE OF TWO MEN MAKING A DEVIOUS PLAN TO RISE TO THE TOP...end of story.

calm down put down any sharp objects he was only asking some pepole havnt watch wcw and wont know hes only saying it should be more of a explanation and please sign your posts Sailor cuteness 13:22, 2 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ratings decline untrue[edit]

The part where it says that after the incident Nitro's ratings fell is very midleading. Nito had been struggling in the ratings since summer of 1998 and following WCW shows for at least the next few weeks did much better ratings than it had been doing in the weeks immediately leading up to the January 4th show.

Myth debunking explanation added.74.47.103.42 (talk) 04:59, 23 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Here's an SVG chart of the ratings. If anyone knows how to upload SVG it would show the flaws in this myth.

WWE has said that Nitro never beat War in the Monday Night ratings again afterwards - though of course that is different from the Nitro ratings always declining outright from then on - both could be true.

While I understand that you are trying to help, you are doing so without understanding Wikipedia:Verifiability and Wikipedia:No original research. It would benefit you greatly to take a look at those. While you may not agree with the sources in the article, please make sure you understand the first sentence of WP:V--"The threshold for inclusion in Wikipedia is verifiability, not truth—whether readers can check that material in Wikipedia has already been published by a reliable source, not whether editors think it is true." Can we link the video?[edit]

I've found the video here. Youtube link removed Can we add it in a "External links" section? --151.38.18.125 14:11, 23 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

goldberg rape?[edit]

i am taking out the bit where it says goldberg was originaly going to be arrested for rape. that is not true and there is no source —Preceding unsigned comment added by Fingerpokeofdoom (talkcontribs) 20:47, 12 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

There was a source. Your edit immediately after removing the information was to remove the source. I have replaced the information. GaryColemanFan (talk) 22:18, 12 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Merge This Page?[edit]

Does this really warrant its own page? It can be easily be merged into the Monday Night Wars page. 71.204.141.7 (talk) 13:07, 6 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Obviously it doesn't, but smarks love to obsess over trivial niche topics, rather than improve or allow improvements to major articles. Hence why this comment has gone ignored for about 13 years. My campaign to determine and list an actual start date for the Attitude Era literally took years, until I found and provided the actual footage of the first on-screen usage of the scratch logo. 130.45.24.168 (talk) 07:05, 27 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Ratings Question[edit]

While I agree with GaryColemanFan above that adding analysis of ratings is original research, I think the article (particularly the lede) may need some type of disclaimer. Based on Eric Bischoff's noted comments, it might be better to place some kind of modifier in the lead, since the 600K number is in dispute from one of the main participants, and wrestling has been well known to embellish numbers. Any thoughts? Dayewalker (talk) 06:14, 24 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Just to revisit this topic, I still feel that adding personal analysis of ratings is synthesis and original research. I'm still open to the thought of placing a modifer in the lede as above, though. Dayewalker (talk) 16:58, 4 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Named by Scott Keith[edit]

Should probably give credit to Scott Keith for coming up with the name. Keith also named the Five Moves of Doom (which had been mentioned by WWE) and has his Blog of Doom. Anything "__ of Doom!" pertaining to wrestling was likely coined by Keith. "Of Doom!" is supposed to be sarcastic, by the way. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 172.162.4.112 (talk) 23:02, 14 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
