“Rikers Island 'prison'?”[edit]

C'mon, Nigga just because ALL the major news outlets don't know the difference between a "prison" and a "jail" doesn't mean we have to be wrong HERE. There are many of us who actually learned in our college courses the difference. The sad truth is Nigga the ones that don't know the difference Niggas have jobs of importance and misreport the "facts" (of prison vs jail) on a daily basis. Meanwhile, those of us Nigga know the proper language are unemployed or underemployed and reduced to having this diarrhea splattered on us via the various media. Nigga We can and should do better here in Wikipedia. --Nick In Detroit-- —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.209.156.50 (talk) 12:19, 29 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Then you should have just Been Bold, as I was, and changed the link yourself. Especially since if you click on the wiki-linked Rikers Island next to the word "prison", it says RIGHT THERE that it's a jail. So much verbosity from someone so lazy. Oh, I get it...you didn't actually want to DO anything about it, you just wanted to bitch and moan about the Haves & HaveNots of today! Well done! You get to whine, and the page *still* gets updated properly! Too bad it had to sit there obviously incorrect for an additional 6 months because of your soapboxing & laziness (because if you can figure out how to hit "edit page" to leave a message here, you can hit "edit page" on the article page to change it!), but hey, at least it's done now. Politically and socially conscious rap group Public Enemy?[edit]

According to who? The band's website? This seems a little inappropriate--hagiographic. I'm sure someone would immediately and indignantly delete the lines if I called them "the vilely profane rap group." 199.8.26.10 (talk) 16:37, 27 May 2009 (UTC)Randy 5-26-09[reply]

Good point. I have removed the statement. Plastikspork (talk) 17:21, 27 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This article is all wrong. Someone please fix it. He doesn't have 25+ kids

The reference for the claim "Flav was also once married to a woman named Beverly." is a page which is basically a copy of the wikipedia page. It needs a better source, doesn't it? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.112.114.216 (talk) 21:25, 10 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Forgive my pestering you, but I would love to learn how to do as you have on the footnotes. I added my first entry, and several citations are from the same article. Akwardly, instead of having say [2] next to each one, I have had to create the same footnote over and over. Each time, of course, it is added and has a new number.

Again, sorry to pester you, but you seem to be one of the few people I have noticed who can do that. Miss Ivonne (talk) 16:08, 12 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

To re-use a reference, you need to add a 'name' in the first use of it: <ref name="something"> url, etc</ref> . Then, when you want to re-use that reference later, all you need to add is: <ref name="something"/> . Hope that helps. DP76764 (Talk) 16:49, 12 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Not consistent with Wiki standards[edit]

"Flav is coming out with his own line of premium liquors & wines in 2010. www.leflav.com First to hit the shelves will be "Le FLAV" premium flavored vodkas (grape, cherry, olive, berry, bubblegum and sweet tea). Then VSOP cognac.....more to follow." Reads like an advertisement, inappropriate for Wikipedia. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.52.24.189 (talk) 01:00, 25 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Flava Flav vs Flavor Flav[edit]

According to his TV series, he despises people calling him Flava as opposed to Flavor. Why is it redirected? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.7.77.116 (talk) 14:29, 8 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Might be a valid point if the title of the page it redirected TO was titled "Flava Flav" and from was "Flavor Flav", but as both versions of the name are known (I myself used the one he despises...it being, assumedly, the name he is known as in England as we don't spell it flavor and like to add our Us to words) and it is the incorrect name redirecting to the correct name, it's fine...as is done with many incorrect spellings of people's names...I'd give an example if I could be bothered checking 87.194.86.204 (talk) 23:05, 7 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Flavor Flav the chef[edit]

With the recent news of Mr. Flav opening a fried chicken restaurant, it has come to light, on numerous news sites, that Mr. Flav attended and graduated culinary school in 1978. Here is one of the sites that tell about this.[1] I think his graduation and current occupation addition should be mentioned in this article. Thank you —Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.81.94.68 (talk) 15:55, 24 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • I agree. The personal section details only bad things, but no mention of him graduating from culinary school. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.21.254.133 (talk) 08:57, 14 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Flava Flav guest appearance[edit]

Flava Flav made a guest apperance on "My Wife and Kids" in 2004 in a show entilted "The Return of Bobby Shaw." I wanted to point this out and suggest that it be added to the "TV and other" category of his page. Thanks.

Edit request from MarciaA, 18 May 2011[edit]

Hi - in 2005 Flav appeared on a reality TV series over here in the Uk that is not included in this Wiki under his "Other TV".

The programme was Channel Five's "The Farm", second season.

Here's a couple of online references:

Sound effects in DJ Hero[edit]

He had some sound effects in the video game DJ Hero. Should this be counted as a media appearance? (S2333 (talk) 11:24, 19 June 2011 (UTC))[reply]

Domestic argument with his fiancee?[edit]

"On October 17, 2012, Flavor Flav was jailed in Las Vegas on felony charges stemming from a domestic argument with his fiancee and threats to attack her teenage son with a knife." - and yet, the source for this states: "[Flavor Flav] was involved in vicious argument with a teenager in his Nevada home. The teenager’s fiancee was also present, and as tempers flared she called the police around 3 AM. Details are sparse at the moment, but Flav apparently beat one of the two, and threatened the other with a knife. He was arrested on the scene for battery and felony assault with a deadly weapon, and is currently being held on $23,000 bail. It’s also unknown what Flavor Flav’s relationship is to the teenagers, if any."

Sounds to me like it was just two random teenagers (at least as far as anyone knows) who were engaged. Fiancee is referring to the relationship of the teenagers, not Flav. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.98.21.17 (talk) 14:02, 2 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Pronunciation[edit]

Is Flavour Flav's 2nd name pronounced "flav", as spelled, or "flave"? 99.247.1.157 (talk) 18:05, 15 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Generally, talk pages are not for Q&A, but this could be something that is elaborated in the article. It is pronounced "flave". DP76764 (Talk) 18:26, 15 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Duh. That's obviously why the question is here. The fucking article doesn't give the fucking pronunciation, does it? For fuck's sake. 99.247.1.157 (talk) 02:16, 16 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for the quick feedback. Yes, the article would be an appropriate place for this information. Best regards, 99.247.1.157 (talk) 02:40, 16 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Relationship with Brigitte Nielsen[edit]

His relationship with Brigitte Nielsen is only referenced in the television section but not in the personal life section. Is this worth revising? Or should we consider it primarily a "TV relationship"? — Preceding unsigned comment added by KaJunl (talkcontribs) 00:00, 1 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
