Not enough information[edit]

This article does not explain what this item is for or what it is meant to do. -- œ 20:51, 30 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I have to agree. I came to this page too try to understand where the name came from, but there's no information as far as I can see why the term 'Flip Chip' was used by DEC to describe these, which is a shame. Dsnt02518 (talk) 23:33, 10 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Renaming the article[edit]

This article is clearly misnamed. It's named Flip Chip (trademark), but, while it mentions the trademark, its really about the DEC computer component, not the trademark.

What's a better name that is both descriptive and still sufficiently clear so as not to confuse with flip chip (a semiconductor mounting technique, and currently the primary topic) and flip-chip pin grid array (a CPU format)? Flip Chip (DEC)? Flip Chip (computer component)? Flip Chip (module)?

Or just Flip Chip (currently a redirect to flip chip), and rely on the upper-case C to disambiguate from flip chip? (I can't recall the WP practice on disambiguating by case, but I don't like it.) TJRC (talk) 20:57, 13 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Without even seeing this discussion beforehand, I came up with the reasoning, so I've renamed it to "Flip Chip (PDP module)". December Rush (talk) 18:44, 5 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
